YRC and poor senior leadership decisions

Pros

a nationwide network for coverage, combined Yellow and Roadway years of trucking experience, knowledge of the industry, a prior brand recognition.

Cons

poor on-time service, lowering the bar on transit times to add days in transit and thus no longer competitive, a poor quality website, lack of respect for employees, being in a survival mode where anybody can be fired at a moments notice.

RDWY was a good company.

Cons

Until Yellow bought them and are in th process of ruining both companies.

If management is your goal there is an OVER-abundance of middle management positions and front line supervisor positions to get your foot in the door for some experience. Many of the facilities are quite happy places to be employed. The high turnover of managers does tend to leave opportunities for promotion rather often.

Cons

Extremely high turnover of managers at every level. Not for the long term career minded individual. Horrible communication between upper management and the front line employees. Absolutely everything is treated like a corporate secret until it's too late to effectively use the information in a positive fashion. Since merging Roadway and Yellow every individual facility is essentially going through a "turf war" ridding itself of what they consider the "new guys".
