Pros

Lots of new and improved products. Good energy and nice perks (free food). A feeling that we're working on something important (even though the rest of the world disagrees)

Cons

Too many leaders in senior roles that shouldn't be. Yahoo has all these Directors who are basically just front-line managers (no manager reports). Trying to retain by giving inflated titles is a sign of desperation..

Pros

Free stuff: food, coffee, snacks, movies, concerts, shuttles, and some very friendly employees. Best for SW engineers.

Cons

Quarterly, stacked ranking reviews have intensified the "watching one's own back" and micromanagement and quarterly terminations along with the ongoing layoffs. Transfers and advancement is possible if you brown-nose with the right higher-level managers, but opportunities to learn and grow aren't available, especially if you don't have CS degree or Masters. Management/people skills are not valued there;and some managers like to yell and swear at employees during meetings and bully during 1:1s because they lack these skills, yet they often get promoted.
