Pros
This was a great intro into a career in the alternative data space. Everyone I worked directly with at Yipit was fantastic and I had some amazing managers and mentors. Folks at the NYC office are very friendly and welcoming. Yipit produces a top-class product and it is great to see on a resume. Work life balance is fantastic -- I probably did 20-30 hours of meaningful work a week while meeting or exceeding performance expectations.
Cons
There is significant pressure on specific corners of the company due to little growth in the core product offering. There is a sense of favoritism towards the revenue team and away from other areas of the company, and many people who work in NYC feel underpaid as salary bands have not changed in the last few years. Morale is impacted by the company cutting down on prior benefits (switching from BCBS to UnitedHealthcare, significant cuts to the Christmas party, Tuesday breakfast, etc.). Significant changes to the company like layoffs and offshoring come suddenly without warning. Remote work means you don't frequently get to meet your colleagues unless you are on the revenue team.
