Pros

Some of the best people ever work here personally and professionally Great Work Life Balance Benefits are above average Lots of Support and Resources I miss the old Zillow

Cons

Zillow is a sinking ship Pre Zillow 3.0 everyone was thriving partners and reps Zillow doesn’t live by “do the right thing anymore” Intentionally lowered partners ROI without telling reps Redistributed leads without advising reps Sales job and account management is all retention now Product isn’t working Upper leadership took so much money from partners and their Premier Agent employees to make up for Zillow Offers Every top manager and rep has left Upward mobility and culture use to be the best in class but has rapidly declined since the big move in Aug 2021 Know it’s all “who you know” We use to be seen as valuable assets and now are quickly just a number at what feels like a retention center Employees are making less then ever Raises are all paid in stock and RSU which plummeted Top reps of 5+ years all making less hourly then new reps they are bringing in Squeezed Premier Agent Org so tight partners and employees are all broke but executives are starting off every all hands laughing while taking a zoom from another beach vacation

The rise and fall of #TurnOntheLights

Pros

- Good work/life balance - Good benefits in healthcare, gym reimbursement, home office expense reimbursement, etc. - Other IC's are some of the best in the biz. Hard working and collaborative (at least on my team).

Cons

- ZO pause and subsequent wind down was handled very poorly, marketing layoffs went from "we don't know if your team will be impacted" to "your last day at Zillow is today" overnight. Many impacted did not even support the ZO business. - Reasonings for ZO pausing and then winding down altogether seemed to keep changing, little to no transparency there. - Lack of senior leadership accountability.

Pros

Zillow has amazing benefits and for the most part seems to genuinely care about employees. I would have given a 5 star rating for Zillow as a whole, but this review is about my time working in Marketing. Also, how ZO was handled has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Cons

Working in Zillow marketing, at times, felt frustrating. The marketing org is super layered, and can feel top heavy. Senior leaders meet frequently to figure out pathways forward, ask the worker bees to implement, then quickly pivot to the next thing, at times leaving the work from the original thing abandoned for the newest shiny object. Also, there is never enough staff at the bottom to accomplish all the important things, yet new senior strategy based positions are always added. The result is there is a bunch of senior leaders constantly trying to justify their value by pushing new things that there isn’t capacity for. It can feel dizzying. Sometimes it feels like we don’t actually do anything, despite all the planning. Sometimes it feels like we barely do any actual work. We sure do talk about it a lot. Of course, this is a view point from someone who may not truly get the big picture.
