Agent marketing is going downhill fast

Pros

CloudHQ is a plus. Being able to work from home makes a real difference day to day. It gives people more control over their schedules and is one of the strongest benefits of working here right now.

Cons

I’ve worked in Agent Marketing for a while, and since the new VP joined, the focus has shifted toward trying to operate like Amazon. Most of our time is now labeled as “strategy,” but in reality it means writing briefs, reviewing briefs, leaving comments on briefs, and submitting brief tickets. Meanwhile, the actual strategic work that drives results and serves agents gets pushed aside until we're scrambling to get ready for launch. Creative autonomy has also dropped off the cliff. Work is closely monitored, and anything outside the prescribed playbook is against the new rules. leadership is too far removed from the day to day to see that the experimentation they’re now banning were the very things that drove the impact they reference so often. Managers appear to be under pressure to strictly enforce new rules and don't seem to be open to differing opinions as they once were. Overall, the culture now seems more focused on optics and "do what I say" than on growth and impact. It has made it harder to focus on the kind of work that originally made this org feel energizing and exciting to be part of.

Pros

I can think of zero pros for working at Zillow

Cons

Brand recognition doesn’t always reflect internal reality. In my experience, employees were treated like numbers rather than long-term investments. High performers were not immune to layoffs, and decisions appeared financially driven rather than performance-based. Transparency during periods of change was limited. I would strongly encourage candidates to carefully evaluate job stability before joining.

Dead end and dying culture

Pros

Prior to recent times it had good pay and prospects, but I would be hard-pushed to find a pro right now.

Cons

Morale has fallen off a cliff with large performance layoffs this year under a “raising the bar” banner, demanding more for less. This decimation has gutted the culture. If backfilling happens, it’s with off-shore workers who get half the pay at most. AI vision is the worst I’ve heard of, they absolutely despise their tech workers and can’t wait to not have them in the loop at all. Pay has stagnated, refreshers were overpriced, promotions are no where to be seen outside of management. This is not a career role anymore which is unfortunate as it was once very good.
