Pros
A great opportunity to gain experience in the industry. As with all things, there is a price for this experience. I recommend this company to younger candidates with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm who are just starting on their journey. Having the ability to include this company on your resume can sometimes get you noticed simply for having survived. In a matter of 1-3 years you could learn a great deal and move on to better opportunities. It is important to note that Zimmerman is a company owned by the Omnicom Group, a holding company in advertising and marketing. In addition to Zimmerman, they own other national and global agencies as well as marketing and media services. Having another entity to answer to has advantages and disadvantages. They offer benefits to full time employees.
Cons
The most difficult part of dealing with Zimmerman life is the lack of encouragement, positive feedback and growth. Growth opportunities for visual designers is quite limited so there is only so much to learn. Zimmerman pride is based more in sheer volume and the bottom line numbers (ei: money/revenue) than in quality. Also, Zimmerman is located in a "right to work" state and does not maintain a positive policy for those departing the company, regardless of the party of volition. The terms of employment offer no severance nor do they reimburse any unused time upon departure from the company, regardless of the reason.
