It is disheartening to hear about your negative experience here at Zscaler. If you are open to it, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak to you about your experiences so that we can address problem areas immediately. Feel free to email me directly. - Michelle Smith, Sr. Manager, Talent Enablement

Pros

I was able to learn about how the COMPETITION exceeds industry knowledge and vision.

Cons

Revolving leadership (new VP sales each year), revolving employees (sales and SE's) and executives. No real security knowledge nor respect towards partners. They are trying to increase addressable market with solutions instead of investing in current solutions and internal talent. Comp plan is the worst in the industry while leadership takes deals to be paid as reps.

I'm not sure you are an actual employee - maybe this is a competitor doing an anonymous posting? Let's see - our head of sales Lane Bess has been with the company for four years. Our head of channel sales has been with us for 5 years. Our head of EMEA sales for close to three years. The sales execs with the shortest tenure are our head of Americas, who has been here just over a year, and our brand new VP of sales ops who just came over from VMWare. So I don't know why you say there is revolving leadership in sales - this doesn't match the facts. I also think your statement about "worst comp plan" and "leaders taking down deals" is also not a match for what is really going on. I feel like my job is to tee up deals for our sales reps - not take them away. That would be silly and counterproductive. I would certainly never recommend that a prospective client does not need AV - this is a silly thing to say - Zscaler sees traffic as it transits the Internet - so we don't see things like a USB stick getting plugged into a laptop - so you for sure still need endpoint security. Now I would for sure argue that AV is barely effective anymore - but that is a whole different discussion. And i don't know why you say Zscaler does not do deep packet inspection - we do... So it's very hard to tell if you ever were actually an employee, or this poster is from a competitor. Glass Door badly needs to figure out how to authenticate people...

Pros

very defined sales processes name recognition

Cons

Starting in 2022, the Americas sales org way over hired for reps. this is especially true in the Commercial Org. Reps started covering 20% of the patch of their predecessors with the same quota. So everyone was setup to fail, leading to 5% of the commercial org hitting their number last fiscal. Sales Leadership is complete garbage, especially in commercial - most managers don’t add any value, they micromanage to an extreme, they gaslight, etc. ZS commercial sales leadership will promise you the world, but unless you’re part of the “in-club,” which consists in having previously worked at App Dynamics or EMC and/or living in Boston, then you will have an uphill battle being successful. The nepotism is also extreme (eg. five brothers who all work at ZS currently in sales or sales leadership—how is that even legal?). I don’t know very many people who are happy working in sales at ZS, typically it just varies between extreme depression/anxiety to downright apathy. There are some good people at ZS, but most don’t work in leadership, and most don’t have any sway in making the culture better. From the top down, starting with Jay, the culture in sales is very much: you are a cog in a machine, your voice doesn’t matter, your knees will be cut off from under you and leadership will be mad that you can’t run a marathon.
