Pros

There is so much to learn while at Bare Escentuals so it is great for beginner Make Up artists. When I first started I wore no makeup at all and I was so pleased with the generosity of free makeup and cleansing tools. There is also great discounts for everyone who works there. Sales goals made things fun and applying makeup made things fun.

Cons

You had to learn a lot at once and be on your feet applying makeup and saying the same thing over and over to new customers. A little annoying, and there would be some people that would walk in that you definitely should have been allowed to deny. Mainly because they were not cleanly.

Communication, changing policy many times. High turnover rate on District Managers. NOT a lot of room for advancement.

Pros

- Good pay for a retail position ($9-$11/hr depending on experience) - Gratis (free full-size products occasionally) - 50% discount - Opportunity for monthly bonuses if the store makes goal - Opportunity for advancement - You get to apply makeup to customers, FUN! - Full-time benefits are very good

Cons

- Part-time benefits are TERRIBLE and do not meet the minimum requirements of the ACA for acceptable coverage. - Do not get sick ever....EVER!! - Personal sales goals could be a con if you are not comfortable in sales. You do not just show people makeup and check them out...you are expected to sell the crap out of that stuff - Only the manager and assistant manager get full-time hours - My least favorite experience of being employed here was the politics. There should be a zero tolerance policy set by management regarding gossiping and passive aggressive bullying. There is not. In fact, about half of management was involved with or fueled the gossip. Even if you never whisper a word about someone else, you will not be safe! I feel like this is a common problem in retail and it only takes a few bad apples to ruin the whole bushel. If it weren't for the petty gossip, favoritism and clique-culture of this store, I would have given 5 stars.
