Pros

Decent benefits even though you have to pay for part of your health insurance. Most companies pay 100% for their employees.

Cons

Where do I begin??! First of all, I liked the job when I started. I was making decent money. The company is growing fast, which is great for upper management. Sales have doubled over the past year, but nothing passed on to the employees - no profit sharing, no bonuses, etc. they have cut the commission structure twice within the last 6 months. Commissions are already taxed at 35%. We all recently got raises, but I will still end up making less money with the huge cuts made to our commissions. In a time when inflation is at a whopping 8.5% in this country, how on earth do they expect to keep employees when we are not valued?? I hope they know they will be losing agents, which will cost them more to hire and train new pawns. I’m truly shocked that they think these huge cuts (some 50% for certain sales!) will not affect morale. I used to tell my friends to apply here. Not anymore. So much pressure to sell more, with system issues on a daily basis, causing restarts and having to requote. Underwriting rejects many quotes that are submitted, even for low risk businesses. Agents are fighting a constant uphill battle. Nothing is worse than working your tail off, only to be told your pay is going to be cut substantially. I’m updating my resume and hope to find an employer that will appreciate my hard work, dedication and strong work ethic. Those kind of employees don’t grow on trees, but biBERK doesn’t seem to care.

Pros

If you make your quota they leave you alone.

Cons

They do not give raises and in time of inflation they cut our commission but expect more work from you than you agreed to at hire. It’s disappointing to work for a company and not feel valued for your services. They do not foster an open door policy and if you take your concerns to management they are dismissive and almost threatening. The base pay is $38000 and then you make $25 per policy. You are expected to sell 5 policies a day ( commission is taxed at 40%) as you fight constant system issues and underwriters who reject almost all of your submissions. Management has different rules for everyone depending on their mood. Very stressful environment.

Can’t make ends meet.

Pros

Nice and helpful colleagues, some very smart and experienced developers.

Cons

Low salary means I can barely make ends meet. Below the bottom 1% in terms of national averages. I am being offered other developer jobs and will eventually take one since they pay 30k more per year.
