It was good until it wasn't

Pros

None left. Remote work, I guess. Morale is so low that everyone's comfortable openly sharing that they're looking for other jobs, so you don't have to hide it.

Cons

All the drawbacks have been pretty well articulated in other reviews, and I wholeheartedly agree with them; things like arbitrary layoffs, constant "restructuring", new director-level/C-Suite hires from Silicon Valley are plentiful and mainly operate as Yes Men for Nihad while our teams are under-resourced and burnt out, changing priorities and roadmaps with more work, more surveillance and unrealistic delivery expectations, useless software that tracks your "individual contributions" with zero nuance around what the full SDLC entails, major changes in technical direction mandated by people without any technical knowledge or experience, and fantastical ideas about reasonable delivery timelines, ignoring seasoned engineers and architects with deep institutional knowledge (people who were good at saying No have been laid off or left), worsening benefits, pay isn't competitive and raises don't keep up with inflation, so I've basically gotten a pay cut every year for the last 4 years in a row. There are more, but I think that's enough to warn anyone off from working here. One of the most striking things about all of this is that a coworker who left was told in their exit interview that everyone who's leaving is citing upper leadership as their reason to leave -- usually people leave a job for better pay, or because they don't like their manager, or because they lose interest in the work. That's not the case here. There are kind, smart people who work here who don't want to be treated like they're stupid for making legitimate criticisms of company-level or department-level direction/policies. Leadership could've gotten the growth they wanted if they'd continued to treat their employees well, but instead they're creating a workplace environment that's just going to lead to churn and burnout. The HR rep said it was the first time they'd ever seen anything like it at this scale in their whole career. It all boils down to this: leadership is terrible, and that's not going to change.

Deteriorating culture and care for employees

Pros

I guess the snacks if you’re in the Boston office

Cons

Ever since Stefania left ezCater has turned into a shell of its former self. They limited PTO but still called it “unlimited” so they don’t have to pay out unused PTO at the end of the year. They don’t care about the restaurant partners, they rolled out terrible initiatives one after the other, used their original Partner Success team as human shields and then laid off the entire department once the restaurants were calm. ezCater doesn’t care about its employees anymore. Get whatever you can from it and RUN. Because it certainly will use and throw you away like yesterday’s garbage.

Pros

flexible time off (unlimited time off until recent changes) and work/life balance

Cons

Operational changes are frequently implemented without a thorough assessment of how they will impact the customer experience. Decisions often feel reactive rather than proactive, forcing teams to manage the fallout and pivot quickly without the proper support or communication from leadership.
