Bring back Account Management

Pros

Work from Home culture. And some of the People.

Cons

Layoffs are ruthless. Account Management was the crux of managing our customers on a daily/weekly basis. Without proper management, customers will come and go much more quickly. Bring back the AMs, otherwise our highest paying customers won’t be there much longer.

Work-from-home option can't save a toxic culture

Pros

This list used to be so long! Makes me sad to say, but honestly the best thing ezCater has to offer is that you get to work from home (for now).

Cons

Changes are necessary, especially when trying to grow and achieve new goals. C-Level management has a nasty habit of gaslighting you into thinking the way they go about these changes is normal, acceptable behavior. It is not. Nor does it promote growth. The way that everything is going, it feels more and more clear every day that the investors (or, as we call it The Board) are just ready to wash their hands clean and move on so they can actually enjoy their last 20 years or so of retirement. Both Sales as well as Operations of been systematically carpet bombed; with C-Level management removing core team members and team leaders, dismantling the culture values, or commonly raising quotas for sales teams completely unannounced right before having to pay commissions. They've removed the ezLanguage through our whole process, efficiently snuffing out everything that made ezCater stand out. Now, you just have another billion dollar tech company doing the same thing as everyone else offering zero value to not only their employees, but really to their Restaurant Partners as well as Customers. They will gaslight you into thinking that this kind of behavior is normal and is to be accepted. Last week, they made the decision to lay off between 50-60 internal agents to shift focus to outsourced support and AI. They laid everyone off one by one while we all waited our turn to know if we would still have a job or not, and those that remain are expected to simply 'focus on their work' and 'embrace the change'. This is not normal, or healthy behavior; let alone how you would logically want to try and run a company that you're pushing for 10x growth. That's another thing while I'm at it, they keep coming up with this outlandish goals, and when we inevitably fall short they shake the tree again to find another way to be cheap instead of looking inward. This used to be a company that felt like home, and like it had a future/career. Now, it's just a sad empty shell of what it used to be. There is no career ladder to climb. They will dance you around internal interviews for months on end only to continuously hire externally. There are two folks still there in management that did work as agents in the past, but I feel like they're almost just tokens to show "oh look we were in the same seat as you at one point". Please do not let the 5 star reviews that may sprinkle in here deceive you. This is not a company you want to work for.

Pros

Some of the people are great!

Cons

This company had the hair brained idea to form an outbound sales department with no structure in place and nothing to sell and now can’t understand why their ridiculous made up goals based on virtually zero historical data aren’t being achieved. They eliminated all account management roles and hired in a bunch of enterprise sellers to do account management jobs but with growth goals. The C-suite has no sales experience and their impatience with results and lack of steady direction screams that they have no clue how to run a sales organization. Morale is extremely low and the workload is too heavy and scattered. They removed the perks that draw people to such a chaotic company like early Friday release during the summer and extended memorial and Labor Day weekends leaving nothing to be happy about working here. They vastly underpay AEs and wonder why people are only willing to do the minimum for a company that continues to take away and disrupt progress in any successes that start to gain traction.
