Cheap company with questionable practices

Pros

The local people are the best, great relationships willing to help each other out and not throw anyone under the bus. Miss those people every day! They get a better score for diversity but still a long way to go.

Cons

Too many to mention. As someone who had been with the company decades before iheart, previous owners put iheart to shame. They care of certain talent giving them whatever they want as far as salary, push live endorsement spots at $1k ea to milk money from clients with substandard commercials. Trust me I know what I am talking about. Bob and Rich were awarded 496k shares of stock in 2020 for downsizing the company, as of June 2021 stock is worth 13.8 Million which they can cash in starting early 2022. (SEC filing) JPMC and Citi among other banks recommend the stock as a buy with no solid financial reasons. Guess which banks Iheart owes 5B to? Should be an SEC investigation, there is no separation with the banking services. Oh and bankruptcy judge allowed them to offload 10B in debt to Clear Channel outdoor (the only division that truly made money), that division has faltered ever since especially with covid. Bob has also bragged how it is an audio company and not a radio company. Well if that is true turn off the transmitters and prove it. 80%+ of revenue comes from radio, it is an old media company don't be fooled. They would be in bankruptcy in 3 months if that.

Major disconnect of Sr Leadership with employees

Pros

You feel proud of the brand recognition and people are really excited to be a part of it.

Cons

Being a part of such a recognized brand and never really feeling a part of it. As an employee if you aren’t kissing up to certain leaders and if you don’t get in the office cliques you are “just” a worker. No direction that sticks longer than a month or so, failure of leaders to really set a vision and execute it, lack of a known career path, status quo except for some, favoritism runs rampant and good people leave only to then get some attention and money thrown at them instead of keeping them developed and appreciated while they are there. Company acts like they care more about their image and the business execs are spoiled while the rest of the staff goes through reorg, furlough and job elims at the blink of an eye.

Avoid At All Cost

Pros

• Pay is decent, but technically under market price especially if you are more of an Associate or Senior Level • Get hookups for shows every now and then, but not enough to offset the Cons • Decent Benefits, but not really much at or above market value

Cons

• Terrible work culture; Countless times there has been some HR violations that would not be tolerated elsewhere • No Job Security – Mass furloughs turned to layoffs due to the Pandemic (Company did just came out of a bankruptcy before the Pandemic) • Pay is sketch, there are rumors of doing unpaid work for entry level employees (I don’t mean OT turn Regular Pay, I mean OT with no pay) • More Miss than Hit on Workload; Know that you may be worked to the ground while others have a light workload and are well liked (Favoritism) • Next to the furloughs turned layoffs, turnover is high. Just know, there is a reason for that.. • Limited opportunities to advance your career; Management limits your career growth for their benefit • Summary: not the job for you if you’re looking to work in a fun, positive workplace with a secured job, good pay, and a career in media
