Terrible Company

Pros

My coworkers, who are equally as miserable but stuck, are very nice.

Cons

This company will NEVER give you a raise or cost of living increase. You will watch every other department be given tons of perks, services, etc from clients and upper management but you will NEVER receive anything above your base pay. Cost of living goes up, your pay NEVER will. It has been 10 years since my last raise, I've asked and been told no. What they do give you is more and more work as they love to fire people and not fill those positions, they just spread the work around to the remaining miserable shlubs. I'm doing the job of about 7 people and getting paid exactly what I was in 2013. You will live in constant fear of losing your job and be abused by the sales staff and sales management, no joke, ABUSE. The entire environment is toxic and negative, no one (besides sales since they rule all things) is happy and everyone is treated like absolute garbage. Bob and Rich don't seem to care either, they send out emails singing the praises of the company and "how well we're doing", then why have we been denied raises or even cost of living increases for over a decade???? Cost of living is considerable more and we're all struggling, we don't care about how great we're doing *for you and your bank accounts.

Pros

The main pro of this position is building your resume and having good experience to show future employers. I did end up in a really good position and company after working here due to iHeart’s brand recognition. I am grateful and appreciative I was given that opportunity and that it led me to where I am.

Cons

The job itself was good, and I actually enjoyed the work most of the time. I am confident in saying I was good at my job. However, the culture in this department took such a toll on my mental health from the time I started until I left. I experienced a horrible lack of professionalism and boundaries from the managers and leaders. The entertainment industry can certainly be more relaxed than your usual corporate office environment, but this environment was inarguably toxic and indefensible. I experienced uncomfortable work events surrounding alcohol, inappropriate comments, overstepping boundaries, persistent attempts to put me in compromising positions, and unpredictable erratic behavior from superiors. I believe it is worth noting that myself and my coworkers were mostly young women shortly out of college while leadership was mostly men, this made the dynamic even more uncomfortable from my perspective in light of the behavior towards subordinates. This is not a position for growth within the company. If you’re lucky you’ll get to go to an event, but bonuses, raises, and promotions are out of the question unless you plan to stay for 5-10 years, which I would never suggest to accept the unlivable pay for that long of a period, especially in Nashville. You should also expect that PTO your first year of work will be less than 1 week. If you decide to go for this position despite the cons, my best advice is to keep your head down, be very good at upholding your boundaries, work your wage, and just focus on doing the time to get the experience on your resume for what’s next. The more you succeed at your job, the more you will receive disproportionate loads of work. Again, personally I was okay with the actual work but there were many moments where leadership could not lead and you just have to swallow it and move on, which does make the work more difficult. Despite the clear Stockholm syndrome displayed by leadership, the grass is greener elsewhere.

Pros

It will lead you to a better opportunity somewhere else because you won't find it at iHeart.

Cons

You won't get paid. They will lie and string you along and say your promotion is in the works. Until you put in your resignation then all of a sudden your promotion goes through . They will pacify you w/ Amazon gift cards anytime you bring up the promotion or give you some award in place. Senior level employees of the company do not have any idea how on to interact with anyone that isn't White and not be offensive. I've had my accent mocked by an executive in front of a colleagues and my hair touched ( I should say examined by management) while at work. Colleagues who received the same awards and recognition as me (and started after me) got promoted. They were White and one of the favorites. When I brought it up...I was told they know how it looks...but they are working on it. NO COMPASSION, limited flexibility. Imagine sharing a personal issue w/ a boss, request to work from home, then get told... "oh well figure it out" and demand you travel an hour to attend a 10 minute meeting. Please note, our jobs were fully capable of being performed virtually including meetings. No career direction. There is no plan. It's all a lie. You will have to leave to get to where you need to be Senior manager will berate (straight up yell) at you in front of colleagues. And will do it within earshot of HR and nothing will be done. There are way more cons than pros, especially if you are any person of color. It's not worth the depression, lies, defeat and down right disrespect you will endure at iHeart. Look at all these reviews and take note of the trends across this company...you will thrive elsewhere.
