Pros

- 6 paid holidays vs. the standard 10 so you can spend even more quality time with your colleagues on Xmas Eve and NYE - Company "Social Events" in lieu of All Hands/Townhall meetings because who needs to know about iHerb's future strategy and goals? - Complimentary snacks and beverages (while supplies last) and a “game room” (which you’ll never have time to use) - Inflexible to no WFH policy which means you'll have daily access to super fast broadband internet 24/7

Cons

When I joined iHerb a few years ago, things were a lot peachier than they are now. The company was growing fast and hiring lots of talented developers (and others) to keep pace. It had so much potential to easily become a multi-billion dollar enterprise but unfortunately, for whatever reason things haven't panned out. Fast forward to present day and all things seem to have sputtered out of control. As others already mentioned, last month, almost 30 employees were unceremoniously let go in one day. No head's up, no nothing. There likely will be more shake ups moving forward but most of us know better and are starting to actively look to avoid being swept up in another "re-org." Not fun dealing with this volatile environment. Regarding the management, they're a tight knit bunch that really like to play things close to the vest. There are no standard "all hands/townhall" type of meetings so employees are left in the dark and have no clear picture of long-term company goals. That doesn't surprise me since planning doesn't seem to be management's forte as developers are constantly taking on last minute (and I mean deploying within hours) "urgent" projects with poorly defined business requirements. If you're used to protected sprints, toss that out the window since management dictates all priorities so expect frequent injected features that'll disrupt your coding mojo. Deadlines are not defined by engineering either so expect a lot of late nights and weekend work. Work life balance is non-existent. In summary, please do yourselves a favor and AVOID this company at all costs. They'll sell you on phantom shares, long-term career growth and other shenanigans. Once you're there, you'll be treated like a replaceable cog in their machine. Anyone is dispensable (except that coveted management team) so you're on your own with that. I've taken my own advice and am laying low while also looking like mad to find greener pastures at a better company.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments and input about your employment experience with iHerb. In particular, thank you for sharing your perspectives on how you feel that the experience has changed. While we recognize that you've used the "Pros" review section to share your critical viewpoint on iHerb offerings, it's true that the Company offers paid holidays (not all companies do), access to food and drinks (again, not always an offering), and for your location, team members can use a fitness center and an arcade room if they choose to do so. As a current team member, you know that iHerb's President has begun to share monthly communications with team members, because we've heard the feedback about the missing 'town hall' meetings or communications. He's most recently (for April) shared iHerb's 2-year strategic plan and major initiatives for all Company teams. We realize the "why" was missing from team communications, and we're working to re-inject that into the iHerb day-to-day. We value you the work and results you provide to iHerb, and we invite you to discuss your ideas and suggestions for improvements with our local HR team members.

Pros

You'll learn a lot and get some good compensation which is nice while it lasts.

Cons

The company has a "chew you up and spit you out" attitude. I have seen it happen to many of my co-workers. As long as you are ok with this, by all means you should accept a job at iherb. My goal is to get out as soon as possible. If you have a family or need to have a life outside of work, forget about it.

As iHerb positions itself to deliver the best product selection and value for its customers now and in the future, the management team is identifying how to improve growth and expansion so we scale more effectively.
