Because most of the employees at talentReef were promoted from within over the years, from the call center, people end up in positions that they do not have the experience for. This includes the middle management, which consists of people who have been with the owner since his last company (VP level folks in operations), as well as people who have drank a little too much of the kool-aid, and have attained positions that they do not deserve or perform at in any way shape or form. This ends up causing detrimental negative attitudes in the office, as many feel mis-managed at best, if not ignored and undertrained.
What is more is that many of the departments managers thrive on gossip and popularity, so if you are doing well at your job, but are not bought into "work hard, play hard culture" (READ: overworked and underpaid), then you will not do well here.
Furthermore, the technology road map is a disaster. talentReef has been driven by the sales team so hard that they are to the point of promising the moon to potential clients, then dropping the ball at the development level because of disorganization and MASSIVE amounts of technical debt and overall under-staffing.
On top of this, no 401k match, poor benefits, and open layout in the office with second hand furniture are all just the proverbial cherry on top.
