Together, the organizations will operate more than 225 sites of care across 26 states and employ nearly 30,000 qualified individuals. AccentCare has signed a definitive agreement to combine with Seasons Hospice, a hospice and palliative care organization based in Rosemont, Illinois, with a presence in 13 additional states. "Our two organizations have very similar missions, visions, and mindsets, and complementary geographic footprints and services," said AccentCare CEO Steve Rodgers. I was born in 1961. I was raised in the San Francisco Bay area in the ’60s and ’70s when we had multiple militant groups like the Hells Angels and the Black Panthers. I was in 2nd grade in Oakland, CA when Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. I was 13 when Patty Hearst was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army right next door in Berkeley (I lived right down the street from where she was kidnapped when I went to college there). Much of this took place with the backdrop of the Vietnam War, and all the societal negativity that surrounded it. It was a strange time then to grow up as a child. And it’s a strange time now to grow older. We are a country in pain. And probably more than a little tired. At times like this, I hear the cries for leadership. As if we expect someone to drop in our midst and lead us. Take us to a better place. Provide us with the courage to face “it” and tell us it’s going to be “OK.”… click link to continue

Our overall Nurses of the Year were Pamela Cooper, RN, from Forest, Mississippi representing Home Health, Christy Dempsey, RN, from Philadelphia, Mississippi representing Hospice, Shirley Reyes, LVN, from Riverside, California serving our Medical Home Care unit. Our Make a Difference winner, recognizing the nurse with the highest patient satisfaction, is Keyera Lynch, RN, from Madison, Mississippi. Our regional nurses of the year winners for Home Health are Becca Wood, Maggie Mayer, Brittani McCain-Snapp, Estella Hudlin, Stephanie Domangue, Venus Fulgencio, Ilse Morris, Stacy Langford, and Troy Hylton. Our regional Hospice nurses of the year are Tammy Guardioloa and Cindy Zervas. Congratulations to all of you, and thank you for your dedication to your patients and living out your Call to Purpose.
