Together, the organizations will operate more than 225 sites of care across 26 states and employ nearly 30,000 qualified individuals. Additionally, they will now serve 60 health system and physician practice joint ventures and strategic partnerships providing care to over 175,000 patients and their families each year.

I was born in 1961. I was raised in the San Francisco Bay area in the ’60s and ’70s when we had multiple militant groups like the Hells Angels and the Black Panthers. I was in 2nd grade in Oakland, CA when Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. I was 13 when Patty Hearst was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army right next door in Berkeley (I lived right down the street from where she was kidnapped when I went to college there). Much of this took place with the backdrop of the Vietnam War, and all the societal negativity that surrounded it. It was a strange time then to grow up as a child. And it’s a strange time now to grow older. We are a country in pain. And probably more than a little tired. At times like this, I hear the cries for leadership. As if we expect someone to drop in our midst and lead us. Take us to a better place. Provide us with the courage to face “it” and tell us it’s going to be “OK.”… click link to continue
