Asbury Communities is pleased to announce that we have acquired Chandler Estate, a community based in Pen Argyl, Pa., that provides independent senior housing and personal care services for 127 older adults and employs 36.
At Asbury, training the next generation of leaders for aging services is something we take to heart. We recently had the opportunity to partner with LeadingAge on a 12-week summer enrichment program that is designed as an immersive internship for college students to develop diverse leadership for the future of our profession. We are pleased to welcome Monique Ford from Stevenson University (Md.) and De’Ara Graves from Georgetown University (D.C.) who have joined Asbury through this innovative program this summer.

It’s a four-peat! Asbury Communities is proud to announce that we have been named A Great Place to Work for 2021-2022. Asbury’s Great Place to Work certification is based on associates’ feedback to the Great Place to Work organization’s Trust Index Survey. Nearly 80% of eligible associates completed the survey which equates to 1,250 associates who provided their feedback on the survey. Thank you to our outstanding associates for their dedication to those we serve – and to each other. Their commitment to creating a strong workplace culture is evident in this recognition.
Through our energy management partnership with Sodexo, we’ve accomplished some pretty great and green savings across our senior living communities. In the past six years, Asbury Communities has: saved 29.1 million gallons of water; reduced our electricity use by 22 percent; lowered natural gas use by 27 percent; reduced carbon (CO2) emissions by 30 percent.
Meaning, family, caring. It’s no surprise that we’ve earned Great Place to Work recognition for three consecutive years when associates feel this way about the work they do.
We are so grateful to our associates and residents for demonstrating community and caring with a capital C! We’re especially proud to come in 11 percentage points above the national industry average for associate vaccination rates, according the recent National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) survey, and look forward to seeing our numbers climb!

Harold Jones, Director of Environmental Services and Mark Whalen, Director of Dining briefly removed their masks to show how excited they were to accept the community's 5th award which recognizes notable recycling efforts by Gaithersburg businesses.
