Brielle, a current Registered Medical Assistant, speaks about her career path to becoming an RMA. She began her career at Atrium Health in August 2022. She was inspired to work in health care after various health issues among some of her family members. Brielle wanted to be in a position where she can educate her family on any possible health complications that may arise. Brielle is currently a Registered Medical Assistant in Endocrinology. Ali is a current Pharmacist who chose to pursue a career at Atrium Health in 2021, after graduating pharmacy school. She has always had a passion for health care, specifically toxicology. Happy Lab Week! Melissa, a lead medical technologist at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, shared with us her career journey to lab and why she loves what she does. "I worked in a Urology office for six years and loved the lab part of the job, so I decided to get my MLS (Medical Laboratory Science) degree.” Melissa was also able to use Atrium Health’s loan forgiveness program as well as our educational assistance program to cover her certification. Melissa shares, “I love that I have a direct impact on quality patient care,” and “I love working at Atrium Health because I have the opportunity to grow and advance in my career through the educational opportunities. Happy Lab Week! We had the opportunity to hear from Chris, Phlebotomist I at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, who shares with us why he loves his job and Atrium Health. He states, “I wanted a career where I could grow and better myself, and Atrium Health allows me to do that.” He enjoys interacting with his patients and setting their mind at ease when they go to him for blood work. He started at Atrium Health around 2017 and has been here ever since. Jason chose to work at Atrium Health Pineville after his own experience as a patient. In September 2020, he suffered a corneal abrasion and ended up in the Atrium Health Pineville Emergency Department. “My experience with the hospital was great, and it left a lasting impression,” he says. “I stay with Atrium Health because of the family of teammates I work with.” Jason began his career at Atrium Health in transport services, and soon realized that he wanted to work more closely with patients. He became a Patient Services Assistant shortly thereafter, and ultimately obtained his CNA. Jason’s commitment to Atrium Health is inspired by the idea of service. “Working at Atrium Health allows me to help others every day,” he says. “The most rewarding aspect of my job is when I am able to make a small difference that has a big impact.” Jason took advantage of Atrium Health’s EdAssist benefits to obtain his CNA license and plans to do the same to pursue his Associate of Applied Science in Nursing soon.
