Meet the legendary Jack, Behr's first employee turned co-founder, whose journey with the company dates back to its garage beginnings in the early 1940s. Over his remarkable 54-year tenure, Jack wore every "hat," contributing tirelessly to Behr's growth. In 1980s, Jack, alongside Kevin Jaffe, Sr., took the reins of Behr from Otho Jr. His legacy extends beyond the boardroom; post-retirement, Jack indulged his love for classic cars, with the 1941 Ford Woodie Wagon at Behr's HQ being a prized piece. But that's not all – Jack's passion soared higher with his collection of WW II planes, including iconic P-51 Mustangs and a Lockheed P-38 Lightning, meticulously restored and flown again. One such plane, a P-47 Thunderbolt, holds a poignant history, being the last to go down in WW II, later salvaged from an Austrian lake. Today, we celebrate the incredible journey of our founder, a man whose spirit of innovation and adventure knows no bounds. Happy 100th, Jack Croul!

Teaching Kids to Care about our Coastline | On OC Coastkeeper's annual Kids Ocean Day, 39 volunteers from Behr joined with 1000 children from across Orange County to clean the shores of Huntington State Beach Park. Together, they removed an estimated 300 pounds of garbage from the sand, leaving behind a giant aerial message that read, “Make Ripples.” The event served as a reminder to both our volunteers and the children to reconnect with nature and take steps to protect, clean, and care for our environment.

For Earth Month, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Peter Kareiva, President & CEO of Aquarium of the Pacific, for a talk on food sustainability. He shared valuable insights on how to eat well while making sustainable food choices that benefit our environment. We admire the Aquarium’s vision— to foster an inclusive community that works together to create our sustainable future. By collaborating with philanthropy partners like the Aquarium, we believe we can amplify our impact and make a positive difference for the environment and society.

Mentoring Women in STEM | Cheryl, who’s been in the chemistry field for over 25 years, shared her advice for women in the early stages of their careers. “Always be your own advocate but also to look for mentors to help guide you in your career even from the beginning. And don’t forget to help those coming up behind you. One of my favorite aspects of being at this point in my career is seeing our younger women team members growing and achieving success.”
