In CJ Logistics’ warehouses across North America, where employee safety is the highest priority, the company continues to invest in technology to reduce the number of any type of incident. With the ongoing implementation of OneTrack.AI technology, the company is continuing to drive safety initiatives toward the goal of zero OSHA recordables. Since successfully piloting OneTrack.AI in 2019 and rolling out the technology across its North American warehouse network, CJ Logistics has seen a 50% reduction in non-injury-related incidents, with a decrease of 30% in 2022 alone. The steady improvement of the CJ Logistics network TIR is well ahead of the industry average. In addition to the reduction in non-injury-related incidents, operations leadership is seeing a continuing increase in self-report incidents resulting from full adoption of the system by the forklift operators. “Keeping everyone on the same page, coaching to improve, holding everyone accountable to the same standards helps morale,” said CJ Logistics America COO Ken Heller.

CJ Logistics Transportation delivers donations from food customers Two of CJ Logistics America’s consumer food customers, Kikkoman and StarKist®, recently donated food products to local food pantries. CJ Logistics Transportation delivered over 30 pallets of Asian noodles and sauce from Kikkoman and 5,400+ pounds of tuna product from StarKist® to Northern Illinois Food Bank in Geneva and to Elk Grove Food Pantry, along with the additional 100 pounds of food donations from employees at the CJ Logistics America corporate office. CJ Logistics America’s Strategic Partnerships team worked with the customers on the donations and the Transportation team organized the pickup and delivery of the donations. This type of community outreach is part of CJ Logistics’ commitment to engaging in better practices for a better world. The company focuses on opportunities to make a positive impact economically, socially and environmentally, launching projects and participating in activities that serve communities in meaningful ways, often in partnership with customers.
Celebrating Korean Lunar New Year | Korean Lunar New Year, or Seollal, falls on Sunday, January 22, this year. Beginning on Korean New Year’s Eve, January 21, 2023, the three-day period of celebrations for Seollal is a time of celebrating with family and showing respect to ancestors. The start of this major holiday in the lives of Koreans, in January or February, is determined by the lunar calendar — the cycles of the moon’s phases — and takes place on the first new moon of the lunisolar calendar, or the second new moon after the winter solstice. Three members of the CJ Logistics Transportation team recently attended the Women in Trucking 2022 conference for transportation and logistics professionals in Dallas, TX. Maira Gonzalez, Manager, Operations, Andrea Weaver Manager, Driving, and Joan Nabukeera, Manager, Central Region took in sessions covering industry topics including leadership, professional development, HR/talent management, operations, safety, technology, driver issues, sales and marketing, industry issues and trends, and D&I best practices. They saw innovative new equipment during the Truck & Technology Tour and had multiple opportunities for networking with other women leaders in transportation.
In collaboration with customer B&G Foods, a CJ Logistics Transportation truck, temporarily adorned with the Green Giant logo, recently delivered a donation of 90,000 cans of Green Giant vegetables. The donated vegetables traveled from a warehouse in Nazareth, PA, to New York’s first and largest food rescue organization, City Harvest in Brooklyn. The donation, including 50,000 cans of corn, is part of Green Giant’s Thanksgiving week partnership with seven-year-old internet sensation Tariq the “Corn Kid” who is from Brooklyn. Tariq and the Jolly Green Giant were on hand for the delivery at City Harvest. Prior to that delivery, Green Giant also donated 100 cans to the canned food drive at Tariq’s school in Brooklyn. “We are very excited to partner with Corn Kid this Thanksgiving as his enthusiasm for corn rivals that of the Green Giant himself,” said Kristen Thompson, Senior Vice President & President, Frozen & Vegetables, B&G Foods, in a news release.
Welcomed by General Manager Martin Shin and the Canada teams, CJ Logistics America CEO Kevin Coleman, Bernie Center, Managing Director, Freight Forwarding, and Joey Davidson, Senior Director, Business Development, recently toured operations in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Toronto, Ontario. Each site visit included an operations overview, warehouse tour and team member introduction, with lunches and dinners providing opportunities for becoming better acquainted with teams and managers. “It was exciting to get to know some of the members of the small but growing Canada team,” Davidson said. “We want to make sure everyone feels connected to our overall North American culture and strategy.”
