We’re proud to introduce SHAPE, our new Core Resource Group, created to empower black professionals within Core to feel seen and heard while promoting growth and development. SHAPE - Striving for Harmony, Advocacy, Progress, and Equity - is a safe space for our black team members and allies to express themselves and, as a group, they are dedicated to educating, developing, and mentoring individuals across Core, while advocating for equality amongst the black community. In honor of Black History Month, SHAPE is guiding Core through a series of educational resources, panel discussions and programming that celebrate the significant impact that black leaders and communities have had on SHAPING our world. As we settle down for the holidays, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on the year. 2023 was a year of growth for Core Spaces. Our people, our partners, and our residents made this a year worthy of celebration. We can only fit so many wins in one Linkedin post-here are the highlights. UPHOLD - Closed eight acquisitions totaling 6,958 beds GRIT - Completed five new developments totaling 3,521 new beds on the market GROW - Welcomed tons of talented new team members, bringing Core to 750+ employees strong (and counting!) PUSH - Continued innovation on unit types SHINE - Pioneered an affordable student housing program recognized by the Governor of Wisconsin LIFT - Over 1,300 mental health surveys completed by our student residents With several entitlements down the pipeline for 2024 and beyond, we are poised for another year of challenges, wins, and accomplishments that come when you take on inventing the future of living. We had the privilege of welcoming Governor Tony Evers to our newest development in Madison for a hard hat tour earlier this week. Gov. Evers met with the talented Journeyman Carpenters and Apprentices whose contributions are helping to bring this exciting project to life. He learned more about ōLiv Madison’s design, commitment to sustainability and the unique student affordable housing program we developed in partnership with the City of Madison. Big thanks to our valued partners at Findorff and the crews on-site for their continued efforts. We’re planting a forest in the sky at our oLiv Madison community. Picture this - a 7th-floor oasis with a mini-forest and meadow. Inspired by Wisconsin’s Northwoods, full trees and native plants will make our rooftop a retreat in the sky, and the perfect place to chill, study, or escape into nature. This is not only a beautiful space for our residents to enjoy, it’s also our newest innovation in reducing our environmental impact. Our efforts don’t stop at the roof. From solar panels and eco-conscious construction that reduces concrete’s global warming impact to the preservation of historic facade elements, we’re focused on sustainability at every level. The expected results include a 19% overall energy savings, a 17% reduction in electricity consumption, a 26% reduction in gas consumption, and a 22% reduction in Energy Use Intensity, making oLiv Madison one of our most efficient buildings yet. This beauty is currently under construction, and we can’t wait to welcome UW-Madison students next fall. We welcomed The Pier to our portfolio last year, and we’re putting our Core touch on this sprawling 20+ acre community near Clemson University. First up: our beautiful new clubhouse - now open and ready to host our residents for study sessions, game nights and more. That’s why we’re proud to launch the second annual Thriving College Students Survey with our partners at the Mental Wellness Advocacy Coalition today –- Oct. 10th! At Core, we aim to create a community where our residents can be their best selves by offering the spaces, services and experiences they need to support their mental wellbeing.
