This Monday (6/19) is Juneteenth, which marks the anniversary of the end of slavery in the United States. Also known as “Freedom Day”, this is a day to celebrate freedom and the power and resilience of Black Americans. In 2021, Juneteenth was established as a Federal holiday intended for us all to remember this important point in our history, celebrate our progress and engage in the work that continues. We observe this holiday at Core, and encourage everyone to take the day to reflect, support and educate ourselves.

At Core, we believe mental health is fundamental. Our communities are home to tens of thousands of college students across the country, and we recognize the responsibility we have in making a positive impact on our student residents' mental health. We aim to create communities where our residents can thrive by offering the spaces, services and experiences they need to support their mental wellbeing. We're proud to be a part of the College Student Mental Wellness Advocacy Coalition alongside 24 other student housing operators. Together, we're committed to better understanding our residents, encouraging open dialogues, and raising public awareness about the importance of mental health.
