Our #DaifukuTeam, Tim Quigley and Cory Flemings, participated in The Home Depot Foundation Supply Chain Event from July 12-14 2022, in Asheville, NC. 🎉 ➡️ Our project was to improve the ABCCM - Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) Transformation Village facility. ABCCM Transformation Village provides up to 100 transitional housing beds for homeless women, mothers with children, and Veterans. Transforming lives is through four developmental phases called Steps to Success. Our group of Supply Chain Event people (ca. 250 people) descended on the center, and in less than 4 hours, laid 250K ft2 of sod, built three play sets and a gazebo, laid down protective padding under the playground, built retaining walls, built Adirondack chairs for kids, seating for adults, and picnic tables. The teams also built dog beds for Paws for People, an organization providing therapeutic visits to any person in the community who would benefit from interaction with a well-trained, loving pet.

This is Zachary Welch, our software engineer intern. 👋 Zach works within our software department and will be with us for six months. He studies computer science at Western Governors University. Before he moved to Clearwater, Florida, he coached Brazilian JiuJitsu and was a student of Catch Wrestling. In his free time, Zach plays various instruments. "Daifuku Wynright is the undisputed leader in integrated material handling, being someone with an interest and experience in controls and automation, it made sense to join. I understand that material handling plays a vital role in our fast-paced society. I find it intriguing that someone could order anything off of the internet, and companies like Daifuku Wynright exist to get products from the manufacturer to your doorsteps within a matter of days." He said.💬 Zach expects to be put in real-world situations and gain hands-on experience working with automation. After graduation, Zach hopes to join Daifuku Wynright as a software engineer and continue his computer science education with a focus on embedded systems. 🚀

Kathy Castro, Software QA Engineer III tells us what was like to work on the Harbor Freight Tools (HFT) project. 👏 ➡️ "My role on this project was Software Quality Assurance lead. The Harbor Freight Tools (HFT) project is the largest and most complex project I've worked on since I have been at Daifuku Wynright. My main focus, along with the other QA team members, was to make sure our Wynsoft software works as the customer expects based on the design document and find any issues or discrepancies before the customer does. The big wins for me with this project were working with all the different groups to deliver a solid product to HFT on their timeline and visiting the site to see the final product in action."💬

"I wanted to intern at Daifuku Wynright because I was very interested in material handling, and Daifuku is the world’s #1 company for material handling. I work in the controls department out of Bolingbrook and will be interning until mid-August when I have to finish up my last semester at Iowa State University."
