A group of Epstein employees recently participated in a team building exercise masqueraded as a bowling outing at Timber Lanes. Becoming somewhat of an Epstein tradition, teams competed for various coveted prizes, while snacks and pizza were provided, of course. Check out some of the fun!
Epstein was pleased to provide architectural, engineering and construction administration services for Spirit Airlines’ Concourse G and L Gate Swap within Terminal 3 at Chicago's O’Hare International Airport. The scope of the project was varied, and tasks included adding an additional gate bridge and elevated walkway, among many others.
Construction is nearing completion on the Epstein-designed and engineered Riverview Bridge, which now links Clark Park and California Park! Our FAA licensed pilot, Dave Hilty, PE, recently took the drone to the construction site to check on the current status of the project, which is progressing nicely. Check out the video, along with the full update, below!
Reminder: The deadline for Epstein's Charity Grant Program is approaching! The Epstein Community Foundation plans to award four (4) $5,000 grants in 2019 to other local non-profit organizations to help them complete a project within the Chicagoland area. The application deadline is Nov. 20. More info here: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMHKH
This week marks the kick-off of this year’s ACE Mentor Program! Epstein, who has been helping lead a mentorship group for the past five years, hosted an introduction event Monday evening at our office, during which we met with the students we’ll be working with. Over the next several months, they will be working to design a culinary center, which will be entered for a national ACE competition. Good luck!
Epstein's Bucharest office is proud to have ranked third in the Top 100 Architectural Companies in Romania! The ranking, by IBC Focus, demonstrates our identity as a true global firm, with the capability to uniquely serve each location we call home. Many congratulations to our entire Bucharest team!
"I knew immediately when I got here that this was the kind of place I wanted to work at; it's just a different type of corporate culture. At Epstein, we like to create an office culture that goes well beyond the typical perks. We continuously work towards establishing an atmosphere where our employees feel positive, purposeful and engaged -- not just in what they’re doing, but with the company as a whole and with each other. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMHgM
Reminder: One week from today, author and photographer Lee Bey is visiting our office to speak about his critically-acclaimed new book, Southern Exposure: The Overlooked Architecture of Chicago’s South Side. As a native South Sider, and former architectural critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, Lee is uniquely qualified to speak on the hidden-in-plain-sight architectural gems found in Chicago’s southern communities. Come check it out! http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMHt3
Our Randy Tharp, Nicole Sommer and Tom Smiles had a great time exhibiting at the 24th Annual North America/Central Europe Airport Issues Conference in Romania! Hosted by the Romanian Ministry of Transportation, the conference promotes the exporting of aviation/airport-related North American products and services. Since the 1930's, our architects, engineers and interior designers have been involved in the design and improvement of air transportation facilities throughout the world, including not only the design of air concourses and terminals, but also the master planning, topographical studies, taxiway and runway construction, and reconstruction of airports.
Our Darrin McCormies was interviewed by Baking Business, who was seeking his expertise about the questions operators need to ask when selecting a new site for a bakery. “It’s an analysis, and as engineers, we try to boil that down into common elements for analysis,” Darrin said.
