EquipmentShare’s Buckets of Joy program recently wrapped up, and it was another banner year for branches stepping up to help their communities during the holiday season. It was the fifth year of the Buckets of Joy program, which embodies EquipmentShare’s commitment to serving the communities we call home. Branches that participate in the Buckets of Joy program place a bucket attachment in their lobby so employees and customers can donate food and coats. Then they donate it to the community organization of their choice. Why it matters: This year, 105 branches participated and donated more than $44,000 worth of coats. One of those branches was in Show Low, Arizona, a brand new store. The team donated to Foster Connect of Arizona, which supports families that provide foster care for kids. What they’re saying: “We’re a small team of about 10 employees, most of whom are deeply rooted in the community and all of whom are passionate about giving back,” General Manager Joy Utter said. “When I asked the group if they’d like to participate in Buckets of Joy, there was no hesitation — everyone was all for it.” A volunteer for Foster Connect of Arizona shared her appreciation for the donation on Facebook, saying: “Thank you, EquipmentShare, for pouring love into our community.”

In honor of Veterans Day, last week EquipmentShare added four new TeleHeroes units to our patriotically wrapped fleet in key markets across the U.S., bringing the total to 13 machines. Ten percent of rental spend goes directly to veteran organizations in each community. The special-edition telehandlers will serve contractors in Savannah, Ga., Colorado Springs, Colo., Pittsburgh, Pa., and Louisville, Ky. “The TeleHero program was built to serve,” said Jabbok Schlacks, CEO and co-founder of EquipmentShare. “These units help contractors get tough work done while also giving back to those who have served our country. EquipmentShare's Forge & Build store in Kirksville, Missouri, had its first opportunity to give back to the community when Back to School Buckets kicked off in August. This is an annual nationwide campaign started a few years ago at EquipmentShare's HQ in Columbia, Mo., to support schools in the community by encouraging employees and customers to donate school supplies and hygiene products each fall. Store Associate Ethan Parrish came up with a new way for his store to get involved … through his passion for art. Looking around the store, Parrish saw a large box and just started drawing on it. Encouraged by his team, including Store Manager Tyler Van Riessen, he transformed the 48-inch box into a giant crayon pack. “I was pretty proud sitting back and looking at it when it was done,” Parrish said. “Everybody was telling me how good it looked. But they were telling me how proud they were even before it was done. All their encouragement pushed me to keep going and get it done for these kids.” We are proud to continue on the legacy of Back to School Buckets in communities throughout the country.

Service Manager Pat Whitlow heard about an upcoming event at Lebanon I-44 Speedway that would provide free backpacks to area kids. Whitlow asked General Manager Sawyer Padgett if EquipmentShare could participate, and Padgett thought the event would pair perfectly with EquipmentShare’s annual Back to School Buckets program. The branch used a portion of its community engagement budget to order a set of supplies through the Back to School Buckets program. Team members and their families set up a table outside the speedway entrance and donated supplies to children attending the races on Aug. 1. Padgett donated the backpacks left over from that event to Lebanon Middle School. What they’re saying: “I’ve been a part of hurricane and tornado disaster relief efforts at EquipmentShare, and I’ve seen first-hand what EquipmentShare does for the community,” Padgett said. “So I wanted us to give back to the community we’re going to be serving.” Why it matters: Back to School Buckets is an annual event that’s part of EquipmentShare’s community engagement mission. Our team members on the ground in Kerrville described devastation beyond imagination: families grieving, neighborhoods changed forever. And yet, in the face of it all, our teams showed up — with courage, compassion, and grit. Once relief could enter the scene, we were there. EquipmentShare employees and partners served more than 4,200 hot meals, distributed water and critical PPE, and mobilized equipment — including excavators for debris cleanup and a telehandler for first responders — to support recovery efforts. On National Hire a Veteran Day (July 25), EquipmentShare will launch its first-ever Hire a Hero Telethon — a full-day initiative focused on interviewing and hiring veterans across the country.
