Celebrating Juneteenth has become more recognized across all areas of the country, especially after it was declared a federal holiday in 2021. But for many members of the Black community, Juneteenth has been a historically and culturally significant holiday since 1865. Our country’s troubled history of slavery begs the question “how should we think about Juneteenth?” Is it something to gleefully celebrate or to somberly honor? Do we take off work? Have a barbecue? Should the holiday only be celebrated within the Black community or is it something that we should all participate in? And if so, how? If you’re unsure of what Juneteenth is or how to best commemorate this day, this article is for you. We’ve partnered with leaders in the Black running community to understand the significance of Juneteenth and how to honor it.
Happy Pride Month!

Happy AAPI Heritage Month! Recognizing #AAPIHeritageMonth, we passed the mic to Kofuzi (Mike Ko), a self-proclaimed “non elite runner,” an inspiration of ours and one of the most engaging YouTubers and marathon vloggers in the running community. Ko has built a massive following over the years and has transformed his online community into a real-life network of both new and experienced runners who meet up at races across the globe. But Ko wasn’t always so comfortable on camera. “I grew up during a time when the most common Asian stereotype was a Japanese tourist with a camera,” he says. “There aren't a lot of pictures of me growing up because I hated cameras and would run away. Sometimes I feel like it’s the ultimate irony that my current persona is an Asian dude with a selfie stick.” We sat down with Ko to learn about his experience as a runner and creator and see what it’s like to race with a selfie stick.

A Friday message shared by our CEO from our Operating Partner of Fleet Feet Fayetteville. Greetings Joey, When you were here in Fayetteville, Monica mentioned to you how we like to support our friend from Off-Road Outreach and donate all of our returned shoes to the homeless veterans she caters to. You suggested we contact Anthony Pendola in the warehouse and see if he can give us a pallet or two. Today, we drove to the Distribution Center in Durham and picked up 4 pallets of shoes. Our On rep met us there and helped us load the heavy pallets onto the two trucks. We brought the shoes to our friend who was shocked, excited, and grateful. She couldn't stop thanking us . It was such a heartwarming experience to see how somebody's unwanted items could be a treasure for someone else. She gave us each a "Volunteer For Veterans" batch. Moments like that make me proud to work for an organization like Fleet Feet where supporting each other comes natural, where we have a chance everyday to change someone's life. I am beyond proud to be a part of this amazing organization. Thank you!
