April was National Internship Awareness Month, where we celebrated the benefits of internships for both employers and students. Internships really create great ways for our youth to start a successful career future through meaningful experiences. Our youth programs like WIOA, Jobs for America’s Graduates – Wisconsin, and Upward Bound help students in our communities connect to local internships. Throughout the year, we participate in various job fairs at local schools to encourage students to find internships and explore the many opportunities that are in their very own backyards. Get a glimpse below of our staff in action, meeting with students and showing them how we can help them reach their dreams. Join our team that truly makes a difference in our communities. National TRIO Day celebrates the many federal TRIO Programs like our Upward Bound program that help low-income and first-generation students enter college and earn a college degree. In honor of this day, our College Bound Math Science students researched TRIO alumni to discover what potential lies ahead in their future. Seeing the joy on their faces was fun when they realized these celebrities were once just like them. We are honored to be a part of organizations like TRIO who help the youth in our community become the best they can be. Learn more about the ways we guide students to reach the success of their dreams with our Upward Bound program with the link below.
The "I have a dream..." speech, spoken by the legendary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood for peace, justice, and equality for all. His ideology and dream are what we strive for every day and continue to work towards as an organization. We instill this same passion for equality into our impact code that resonates within every member of our FSC community. We will embrace every day as a new day. We will just. We will be students. We will reside only in the present and future. We will be innovative. We will never stop questioning. We will be truthful. We will be for everyone. We will be pioneers. We will never be finished. We continue our fight for racial equality by always supporting one another and speaking for those who cannot advocate for themselves. Together, we will continue to serve everyone until there are equal rights for all.
The best way to celebrate the holidays is by giving the light of love to those who need it the most. ❤️ Many of our staff throughout our 6 regions of service gave back to their communities this month by participating in programs such as Ringing the Bell for the Salvation Army and adopting families through local shelters and Boys and Girls Clubs. We are so grateful to have such caring and generous people on our teams that share their love with others, not only during the holidays, but all year long. Thank you for everything you do for your community, friends and family. We wish all of our staff, partners and friends a safe and happy holiday season and a wonderful new year.
'Tis the season of giving back! Earlier this month, our Region 1 team took time out of their day to give back to the many communities they serve. Our Wisconsin Rapids team visited the ADRC of Central Wisconsin's Meals on Wheels where they prepared, packaged, and served meals. In Rhinelander, our team visited their area food pantry, where they got to see firsthand how the pantry functions. Our Antigo team visited the AVAIL, Inc.'s Outreach House, where they lent a hand in tidying up and organizing their donation station. Our staff in Stevens Point concluded the week and visited the ODC, Inc. where they shared many smiles, assisted clients with a few fun rounds of Bingo and even cheered them on for Karaoke! Working alongside the dedicated staff and wonderful volunteers at these organizations was an impactful way to get involved and understand how we can how we can help one another. Love to help others as much as we do? Join our team! Check out our Careers Page below.
At Forward Service Corporation, one of our impact codes states, "we will be students." This statement emphasizes that every experience we encounter will make us wiser and more efficient at what we do. We strive to always be engaged in learning and to use that knowledge to move forward. Volunteering is a wonderful method our organization uses to understand and learn about the community we serve. In an effort to uphold our impact code, our staff in the Fox Valley region took time out of their day to visit Feeding America. This was a fantastic opportunity to tour their facility and learn more how they receive and distribute food to local pantries. We also discussed potential outreach opportunities and how we can collaborate together more in the future. It was a lovely time, and everyone learned a ton! Join our organization that is always giving back! Check the link below for a list of our current openings.
When September came upon us and summer came to a close, kiddos weren't the only ones going back to school. Some of our employees were too! Our mission involves educating and supporting the professional development of the workforce in our communities. As such, we also firmly believe that future growth is nourished by the knowledge and skills of our employees. We support their continuous improvement and help them achieve their own personal and professional goals. We invest in our employees and their career growth by encouraging their participation in workshops, conferences, higher education programs, and other training opportunities that closely relate to their position within our organization and field of service. Here are some of our employees who are getting back into the school groove as they continue their higher education journey and achieve their personal goals. We're so proud of the work you do, the people you are, and the difference you make. Have a great school year!
The Job’s for America's Graduates (JAG) program is just one of the many ways we serve the youth in our community. Throughout the school year, our JAG specialists work directly with students who face significant challenges to help them reach their career goals and realize their full potential. Last Spring, the JAG-WI program held their first ever "Spotlight Day" series where students and faculty spoke on how JAG has impacted them. Local employers also spoke on how JAG benefits students even after high school. It was a wonderful event that generated a lot of interest, specifically from Wisconsin political figures like Rep. Jesse James, Sen. Kathleen Bernier and Gov. Tony Evers! The school year ended strong when 7 students from the Stanley-Boyd JAG program competed nationally in a Career Competition hosted by the National Career Association. The group placed 7th out of 25 teams nation-wide! We're so excited for this upcoming school year and what adventures lie ahead for our staff and students.
The growing wave of anti-Asian violence and harassment is a sober reminder of the sad truth that racism continues its ugly presence in American life. It must stop. These folks are our neighbors, our friends, our co-workers, our fellow citizens and community residents. Most importantly, people of Asian descent are not responsible for the COVID-19 virus.
