#TeamGEI in Canada welcomes the next generation! Our Markham and Guelph offices welcomed our new wave of 31 interns and #youngprofessionals to the GEI family! From energizing conversations about what to expect at GEI and leadership insights about #mentoring and how to be successful to laughter-filled moments and team bonding over the BBQ, the day was all about learning, growing, and connecting. A heartfelt #thankyou to YP Canada, our marketing teams, and organizers for their collaborative efforts in planning such a warm and welcoming event. #TeamGEI is excited to announce Rafiq Qutub as the new Civil Practice Lead for Canada. Rafiq joined GEI in 2017 and has led project teams in the successful delivery of capital projects from the planning stages through design, permitting, tender, contract administration, inspections, commissioning, and closeout. He has been instrumental in growing our civil practice in Canada. In his role of Practice Leader, Rafiq will be responsible for developing the civil practice, supporting staff development, and collaborating with other practice leads to provide added value to clients.

#TeamGEI’s Solidea Bonina, Ph.D. was thrilled to join 350 other women at the Professional Women in Construction Chicago Chapter Social. In the predominantly male-dominated engineering industry, the women professionals ruled this crowd. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable, showcasing the incredible impact when successful women come together to support and uplift each other. #TeamGEI had a rockin’ time on the ice! Our Portland, Oregon team met up at Evergreen Curling Club for a fun and frosty #curling event. After a short how-to-curl lesson, the group of nine split into teams, with skips and curlers taking on their roles. It was the first office-wide event since before 2020, and all involved couldn’t have asked for a better time on the ice. #BackTogether
