We're proud to foster an inclusive workplace at Gates, empowering our people and cultivating a culture of equality. In 2022, we established a DE&I Council and launched a pilot program across our North America workforce, which included the development of a multi-year strategy focused on driving awareness, best practices, and delivering programs to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging. As part of our diversity, equity, and inclusion roadmap, three Business Resource Groups were formed: Pan-Asian Leaders, LGBTQ+, along with Veterans and Veterans' Families. We look forward to continuing to expand our DE&I efforts because Together, we strive for a workplace where everyone's voice is heard and individual contributions are recognized. Meet Charmaine! She’s been working at Gates for eight years, starting as a Customer Service Representative, and now she is a Manager for Supply Chain Customer Operations. “Gates has been with me through my personal milestones and has attributed to me being able to accomplish a lot of them too.” When she was pregnant with her second child, she found great support and inspiration from her leadership, namely Ralitza Arafin, who Charmaine thinks does an amazing job at balancing her life as a mom and a powerful executive. “Gates is great about having powerful, inspirational, and career-driven women. And being a woman of color in the corporate world is not easy, but I have never felt less supported at Gates because of it.” Charmaine thinks of Gates as her grad school, since she is constantly working with and learning from executives, and is actively helping grow the company, which is “a very valuable experience you don’t get when you move around companies a lot.” She is very proud of the career she has built here. She has always wanted to be in a leadership position, and she has accomplished that. Now, she has greater ambitions and has the full support of her colleagues and her leadership. A piece of advice from Charmaine, “Realize that you are responsible for your own growth. Nothing will be just handed to you. The more you learn, the more valuable you become.” If you, Charmaine, want to build a career at Gates, visit gates.com/careers
