At Archway Veritas, students and staff celebrated Great Hearts, Great Books Day on their first day back from fall break. “I'm really excited about this day,” said Dean of Students Victoria Van Leuven. “[It is] a celebration of all the wonderful books that we read here in our campus. Students are able to come to school dressed as a favorite character from a story we've read or a favorite historical figure.”

Meet the Marvelous Miss Mabel, the lovable bernedoodle spreading joy at Archway Glendale! She's the furry sidekick of Joy Hanks, her handler and the Dean of Students. Mabel's a certified therapy dog, here to brighten up everyone's day a few times a week. Her name, of course, has a Latin origin, meaning 'lovable'. Veritas Preparatory Academy celebrates the shift from 10th to 11th grade with a meaningful tradition – the introduction of a new uniform. Each year, junior students are presented with a distinguished navy-blue blazer, signifying their dedication to their studies and the challenges that lie ahead. This ritual is commemorated in a formal gathering attended by all upper school students, as well as faculty members. It is a much-anticipated event and rite of passage that the juniors eagerly await.

Great Hearts is committed to providing a classical education rooted in the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. One of the standout events in our upper schools is the High School Symposium, a platform that encourages scholars to engage in intellectual discussion and critical thinking. For most of our academies, scholars celebrate the return from fall break with a day set aside to engage with each other over the literary work that they read over the break. This provides an opportunity for students to take part in thoughtful conversations, present their ideas, and defend their positions, all within a respectful and collaborative environment.
