NAES Corporation is expanding at Hughes Landing, leasing more than 28,000 square feet at 1725 Hughes Landing for its new central region hub in The Woodlands. NAES' expanded presence will bring additional operations and technical jobs to the community. The move takes the company beyond its current subtenant space to establish a direct, long-term presence — a decision NAES credited to strong employee engagement and the strategic advantage of operating closer to its customer base, within a master planned community that pairs a business-friendly environment with quality-of-life amenities and access to one of the nation's leading energy and industrial markets. Last month, our employees across our regions volunteered as part of our partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. The Summerlin team came together for a team build day in Las Vegas. In Honolulu, the Ward Village team returned for its second time this summer, continuing their support of the nonprofit’s Home Build Program. Employees from our corporate office and The Woodlands and Bridgeland teams participated in a ReStore day, sorting donations and keeping the resale operation running smoothly for the families and communities Habitat serves in Montgomery County, Texas. At Howard Hughes Communities, our employees receive 24 hours of paid volunteer time off each year, and our Habitat partnership gives that time real shape, connecting it to the work of building stable, affordable housing across the country.
This Fourth of July, America celebrates 250 years, and we took a moment to honor that with our team. We came together for a barbecue picnic, lawn games on our terrace, and a simple question posed to everyone: “What does America mean to you?” The answers reflected who we are as a team, and in that way, felt true to what America has always been — a place shaped by many different people and stories. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Independence Day weekend!
Last week, we welcomed the next generation of builders, planners, and dreamers to our office in The Woodlands. For Bring Your Kids to Work Day, employees' children had a chance to step inside Howard Hughes Communities and see firsthand where their parents spend their days and the work behind shaping the places we call home. The day included an office tour, plenty of hands-on fun with games, a paper airplane competition, and pizza for lunch. We build communities for generations. Days like this are a reminder of who we're building them for.
At Howard Hughes Communities, stewardship goes beyond the boundaries of our developments. Recently, our Teravalis team participated in a Habitat for Humanity ReStore day in the Phoenix West Valley, and our Ward Village team helped build a home for a local family in Waimānalo. Through HHCares, our partnership with Habitat for Humanity International is one of the ways our teams show up for the places they call home.
The Park Ward Village is now open. Ward Village's ninth residential tower sits directly alongside Victoria Ward Park, Honolulu's first SITES-certified park, in one of the most walkable urban neighborhoods in the country. Designed by SCB with interiors by Yabu Pushelberg and landscapes by VITA Planning & Landscape Architecture, the residence draws from Hawai'i's mid-century architectural heritage and puts 546 homes in a park and ocean view setting, seamless indoor-outdoor living, and more than 30,000 square feet of retail and dining at street level. Opening at 97% pre-sold, The Park Ward Village illustrates the continued demand for thoughtfully designed urban island living in Honolulu.
To close out Mental Health Awareness Month, we teamed up with Special Pals — Houston's longest-running no-kill animal shelter — for an on-site puppy visit at our corporate office, giving employees a chance to step away from their desks and spend some time with dogs available for same-day adoption. It's one small example of how we try to show up for our people — not just professionally, but as whole human beings.
This spring, 20 students from more than 10 colleges and universities wrapped up the Howard Hughes Communities Building Bridge Program, a five-week initiative powered by Project Destined. They came for an onsite visit to The Woodlands and a tour of The Ritz-Carlton Residences, The Woodlands. The program introduced students to the full range of disciplines behind master planned community development, from capital markets and office leasing to strategic marketing and investor relations. The goal was to provide real exposure to the industry rather than just a surface-level overview. We're proud to partner with Project Destined to help prepare students for careers in real estate and finance.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. At Howard Hughes Communities, we believe the quality of someone's life outside of work shapes the quality of their contribution inside it. That belief is reflected in how we plan our communities and in how we support the people building them. We provide mental health resources as part of our comprehensive benefits package, including an Employee Assistance Program with 24/7 access to trained clinicians, telehealth mental health services, and digital tools designed to support employees through everything from everyday stress to significant life transitions. We think in decades when we plan our communities — and we bring that same long-term perspective to the people doing the work.
