Digging In and Giving Back: A Record-Breaking Day at JK Community Farm This week, our summer interns rolled up their sleeves and joined forces with volunteers at the JK Community Farm to tackle our largest harvest yet—3,847 pounds of fresh produce. That’s thousands of pounds of potatoes, squash, and peppers now headed to local food banks, equating to more than 3,000 meals for families facing food insecurity. “It was hot, it was messy, and we were covered in dirt, but knowing the food we harvested will help families in need made every minute worth it,” said Marketing Intern. At JK, we believe in meaningful work inside and outside the office. Through opportunities like this, our interns aren't just gaining career experience—they’re also growing a deeper understanding of purpose, service, and community. We’re proud to cultivate a workplace that encourages giving back and stepping up.
At our most recent (and best-attended yet!) Residential crew meeting, President David Cox reminded the team what sets us apart. With high temperatures expected that day, we focused on safety, quality service, and staying ready for new opportunities. We recognized service award winners and made sure everyone was fueled up and hydrated with Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches, cold Gatorade, and plenty of water. It’s moments like these — looking out for one another and celebrating our people — that make JK a great place to work.
At JK, we believe in providing real-world, hands-on experiences that go beyond the classroom. Recently, our interns had the opportunity to explore our cutting-edge warehouse, get familiar with the latest equipment, and even step inside a brand-new 2025 Kenworth T680 tractor trailer. 🚛 This behind-the-scenes tour gave them a firsthand look at the innovative logistics and technology that power our operations—and what it's like to be part of a team that keeps things moving. It's just one of the many ways we invest in learning, growth, and future talent at JK.
We’re honored to be named a Top Corporate Philanthropist in the Greater Washington region by the Washington Business Journal! In 2024, JK Moving contributed $377,000 in corporate donations—most of which supported hunger relief efforts through the JK Community Farm. These contributions placed us 28th among the region’s largest companies and reflect our continued investment in meaningful change. “At JK, service and stewardship are core to who we are,” said CEO Chuck Kuhn. “From reducing hunger to preserving farmland, we’re proud to give back in ways that strengthen communities and protect the planet.”
What a week in Philadelphia! Over 150 elementary school students were surprised with a brand-new bike, helmet, and lock as part of Philly Bike Ride’s new “Graduation On Wheels” initiative. JK Moving Services was proud to support this incredible effort—storing the bikes before and after assembly and delivering each one to its new home. It’s all about creating safer, more inclusive ways for kids to experience the joy of biking—and the smiles said it all. We’re honored to be part of something that moves more than just boxes—it moves communities forward.
JK Technology Services was proud to sponsor the 2025 Cloud Run this weekend! We had a great time supporting both Fun Run and 5K finishers with T-shirts, water bottles, and award medals. More than just a race, the Cloud Run brings together the data center industry and our local community in a meaningful way. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table—we loved connecting with you!
JK Moving has been named one of the Best Places to Work in the D.C. region by the Washington Business Journal — for the third year in a row! What makes this award special? It’s based entirely on feedback from the people who know us best: our team. At JK, we work hard to create an environment where people feel valued, supported, and motivated to do their best work. From competitive pay and great benefits to a culture that truly puts people first — this recognition reflects the effort we put into making JK a place where careers can thrive. A rare and meaningful moment at JK Moving. For the first time in over two decades, our Residential and Commercial teams came together for a company-wide meeting—more than 175 strong. This wasn't just about sharing updates. It was about celebrating the people who make our work possible. From safety updates to heartfelt recognition, we celebrated everything that makes our team strong. Service milestones were honored, exciting changes shared, and a warm breakfast capped it all off.
JK Moving Services is where passion meets purpose. It’s a place to grow, thrive, and do meaningful work with people who truly care.
Supporting our long-distance drivers with comfort and care An important part of any moving company’s success is its drivers, especially long-distance drivers who spend extended periods on the road. These professionals are often away from home, friends, and family for several days or even weeks at a time. While we may not see them as frequently as other employees, we make concerted efforts to ensure they feel valued and appreciated for the essential work they do. A comfortable space for rest and relaxation: At JK Moving, we understand that long hours on the road can be physically and mentally exhausting. That’s why we’ve created a dedicated, furnished bunkhouse at our Sterling, VA headquarters for our long-distance drivers and their helpers. This space provides them with a place to unwind and recharge between jobs. Whether it’s enjoying a meal, reading, watching TV, or simply relaxing, this bunkhouse is designed to help them feel at home — even when they’re far from it. The bunkhouse can comfortably accommodate up to eight people at a time, ensuring that drivers and their helpers have ample room to relax and take a breather before hitting the road again. Fully furnished with modern amenities, it’s a place where our team can catch up on their favorite shows, connect with family, or simply enjoy some much-needed downtime. Follow the link to continue
