Kindred Partners with Atlantic Health, Opens $24M Rehab Center at Giralda Farms Victims of strokes, neurological diseases and traumatic injuries will soon start rebuilding their lives at the new Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute in Morristown, NJ. The two-story, 38-bed center will replace the century-old Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute that straddles the border of Morristown and Morris Township on Mount Kemble Avenue. "Every little detail, every piece of the entire design has a purpose designed for rehab,” explained Therapy Director Vanessa Sembrat after a ribbon-cutting ceremony held by officials from the Morristown-based Atlantic Health System and partners from Kindred Healthcare of Kentucky. The new facility will feature a smart car -- to help patients relearn how to get in and out of a car -- a ski simulator to improve balance, and a $170,000 motorized exoskeleton to help paralyzed patients walk again.

Mercy Iowa City Rehabilitation Hospital is expected to open by the second quarter of 2020 and will provide care for patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and other conditions. A formal groundbreaking ceremony took place on Thursday, April 18. “We are excited to work with Kindred Healthcare on this joint venture to enhance the rehabilitation services offered to patients in the community,” said Sean Williams, President and CEO of Mercy Iowa City. “The facility will serve the growing population of patients in need of comprehensive rehabilitation care by giving them access to state-of-the-art technology and treatment options to advance the recovery process.”
