Our L+M volunteers recently worked with Mott Haven Community Fridge Network to unload, sort, and package about 6,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, which was delivered all over the Bronx as well as to community organizers, who distributed produce to neighbors in need. St. Barnabas Health and Wellness Center in the Bronx uses biophilic design by integrating a rooftop urban farm into the development. The farm is operated by Project Eats and provides fresh produce to hospital patients. Residents from the development’s two-building affordable housing complex also get involved and help grow and harvest the food. L+M, Type A Projects, and MSquared have closed on $42 million in financing for the development of 78 affordable apartments that will serve low- and moderate-income households in the Fairmount neighborhood of Newark. The building will include a ground-floor clinic and office space operated by University Hospital. The project will be undertaken through New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency’s (NJHMFA) Hospital Partnership Subsidy Program.
