Skateboarders in Brooklyn are learning new tricks thanks to Harold Hunter Foundation’s free skateboarding clinics. Harold Hunter Foundation, a 2021 L+M grantee, launched a pilot program earlier this year to give Brownsville youth an opportunity to try skateboarding. Coaches from the Foundation are on hand at the newly renovated Betsy Head Skatepark at least three days a week and bring free skateboarding gear for participants to use. Coney Island Phase 1 includes 446 rental apartments affordable to households whose income does not exceed 100% of area median income, two landscaped decks on the 8th floor for passive recreational use, covered parking spaces, and approximately 15,000 gross square feet of dry flood proofed retail space.
