A few weeks ago, Gloria Silva, Former NAWIC Tampa Bay Chapter 36 President, was able to attend this year's National Association of Women in Construction Annual Conference. After three days of training sessions, meeting and sharing stories with women from across the country, and listening to inspirational keynote speakers, here are a few of the major takeaways that we will be incorporating into our D&I strategy: ◼️ Make D&I a part of the business strategy, not a separate program. ◼️ Break down company processes - are there any gaps or unconscious barriers? ◼️ Don't assume the reasons behind D&I gaps without first understanding the data. ◼️ Training is a must. D&I initiatives will not create long-lasting change without implementing and reinforcing the training. ◼️ A great D&I strategy is built upon a strong foundation with support systems to embed the practices and keep the momentum moving forward.
