On August 21st, a team of veterans began a journey across America; the first-ever Task Force Tribute. The members of the Task Force Tribute gather stories from military service members who served with fallen veterans. The Task Force Tribute team travels one mile for every service member lost, to pay tribute to the 7,054 military members lost during combat operations since 9/11. Madison’s own Erik Ward is a member of Project RELO. “I first got involved with Project RELO in September of 2017. I appreciated the mission of educating corporate America on the value of hiring veterans, “said Erik Ward, Former U.S. Army Green Beret and current Director of Innovation at Purafil. “The problem of veterans finding meaningful employment isn’t going away anytime soon. There’s still a lot of work to do and that means there is a need for veterans and others who are willing, wanting, and able to do the work."

Losing power at a hospital disrupts the entire operation and impacts the quality of care provided to patients. While hospitals have generators, a power outage can result in electrical problems with their HVAC units, fire alarms, water and food preparation, vital machines, and air-conditioning, threatening the lives of patients and their caretakers. A community hospital in Kentucky experienced a loss of power and was running on generators. The Appalachian Regional Hospital CEO reached out to Big Ass Fans, desperately looking for other solutions to support their system. The Big Ass Fans team came together and donated 32 Sidekicks to the Hazard location in Kentucky to help improve their indoor air quality and keep patients and staff comfortable.
