With love and high expectations, we support each of our Mastery students in identifying and pursuing their own paths to success. Mastery student Yashire Askins, a student at Mastery's Shoemaker Campus, and his older brother Jahkai Moses, a 2023 Mastery graduate, were featured in a The Philadelphia Inquirer article highlighting their work with the Youth Outreach Adolescent Community Awareness Program, which has exposed them to the carpentry trade as a possible career. The Charter School Growth Fund has identified Mastery Schools as a charter school network that has successfully created a new vision for teaching literacy to students. According to their latest report, our partnerships with Read by 4th and AIM Institute for Learning & Research (Pathways to Proficient Reading) have helped develop a foundation in the scientific aspects of literacy and reading, leading to more strategic instruction. High school seniors who applied to college all over the country are finding out if they were accepted. KYW Newsradio’s Antionette Lee spoke with one impressive student who has a lot of options. Edward Scarborough, a senior at Mastery Charter School Lenfest Campus, applied to 43 colleges. He says his 4.17 GPA helped him get into all of them, including Penn State and Howard University. He has amassed more than $900,000 in scholarship offers combined. Learn more here:

After a year-long, Board-led search process, Mastery has named Dr. Joel Boyd as its new CEO. Dr. Boyd is expected to start at the end of the school year, and succeeds founding CEO Scott Gordon, who has led Mastery Charter Schools for 22 years. We will have time to say goodbye to Scott and hello to Dr. Boyd in the coming months! Thank you to the Board, staff, and parents who helped us identify our next leader. See the story here:

OkaySis! is celebrating another year of building sisterhood and community at Mastery's Lenfest Campus. Created by ninth-grade teachers, Arionna Hart and Tirzah Johnson, MSL, OkaySis! pairs young women in the 7-9 grade with 10-12 grade students and encourages meaningful connections by hosting social networking events. We partnered with the Black Women in Sports Foundation to host the first Lady Bulldog Leadership and Athletic Conference. The conference featured speeches from former athletes, group discussions and gym sessions. Watch this video to learn more:
