McKinstry was proud to attend and participate in the grand opening of the new location of the Smart Buildings Center (SBC) on Oct. 27th. The SBC is a project of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council (NEEC)—a regional energy efficiency industry business association. McKinstry Chief Market Officer Ash Awad—also president of the NEEC Board of Directors—was on hand to cut the ribbon with Schneider Electric’s Jordan Lerner and NEEC Executive Director Stan Price.
Maybe there's something in the pre-Halloween air, but McKinstry employees across the country are going crazy for #FanFriday! Our people, dogs, and even the "Seahawks Fairy" are all wearing their Friday best. We also have it on good authority that—in advance of the big Packers/Broncos game Sunday night—our Madison, Wisc. office and Golden, Colo. offices have engaged in a friendly wager. The losing office will be on the hook for buying the winning office lunch—so may the best team win!
If you were a fan of our Des Moines (Iowa) office's Halloween activities we highlighted yesterday, you should know that we're hiring in Des Moines right now! Check out these three positions listed below, and feel free to share these jobs with anyone in your network who might be interested. Critical Facility Manager: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vI199 Lead Critical Facility Engineer: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vI19B Lead Maintenance Technician: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vI19F
Our brand-new office in Des Moines, Iowa got a little spooky for a good cause earlier this week. Through The Homestead-Iowa—a local organization dedicated to serving the needs of people with autism—McKinstry hosted an office park trick or treating event. Trick or treating can often be difficult for kids with autism, so this event allowed kids to practice their trick or treating skills in a safe environment. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vI1va
In his latest piece for Spark, McKinstry's new blog, Jesse Sycuro has books on the brain. Check out his story to learn how books are just like buildings—you might just pick up some valuable intel on performance-based outcomes while you're at it.
"Growing up, my dad was an engineer, but I didn't think I wanted to be an engineer. Eventually, though, I found out that I was naturally good at math, so I decided to study engineering in college. What's kept me in the field is not necessarily what I’m good at, it’s what challenges me. I think the industry is changing for the better with more input from women engineers. We still have a long way to go, but I’m thankful to be in an area where the mentality is to be open-minded." - Juliana McLean, McKinstry energy program manager, Oakland #ILookLikeAnEngineer #McKinstryEngineers
The Knowledge Resource Center (KRC) are seen as heroes to our clients, and for good reason. Recently, these teams were recognized and got to celebrate their hero status during Customer Service Week. This special week is celebrated during the first full week in October and this year’s theme was Everyday Heroes. Four departments in the Facilities business unit participated: facilities platform, issue management, energy management, and service coordinators and account managers.
We're excited to attend this year's Society of Women Engineers Conference October 22-24 in Nashville. Make sure to stop by our booth and say hi! #SWE15 @SWEtalk
We're pretty excited to be part of this amazing project. Congrats to our hardworking McKinstry team members for all of their work on the Block 43 project—a six-story building in downtown Seattle and the new headquarters for the Allen Institute for Brain Science.
It's #FanFriday, so you can find McKinstry's biggest sports fans in their favorite team colors. These folks represent our Spokane, Portland, and Minneapolis offices. Who will you be cheering for this weekend?
