Today we're visiting the Career Pathways Expo at Delaware State University. This event is for students interested in pursuing summer internships and full-time opportunities. Students will meet with representatives to gain valuable career advice and mentorship. It's a great opportunity for the students to polish their resume, rehearse for interviews, and ask any questions. Four times a year Mohegan Sun welcomes students from around the globe through our partnership with the International Cultural Exchange Organization. The students are here for three months to work and learn about our Mohegan and American culture, while sharing their own cultures and customs. One of their first stops is our Map Wall where Team Members are encouraged to place a pin in their home country. This group of students were excited to place a pin in their home countries of Chile and Peru!
On Friday, November 11th we held our annual Veteran's Day Ceremony to honor Team Members who have served in the military. The ceremony included presentation of the colors by the Mohegan Tribal Veterans Association and singing our National Anthem. American Flag pins and cookies with the logs of all four branches of the military were also handed out. The ceremony ended with the unveiling of the Team Member Veterans' banner which hangs proudly on Traders Trail near our Team Member library.
We’re sending a huge congratulations to our Team Member, Amanda Gregg! Amanda works in Support Operations and will soon be jet-setting off to Australia to represent the United States in an international Taekwondo competition! Twenty-five countries are competing in the event, where athletes with intellectual disabilities will be showcasing their skills in Taekwondo. Amanda joined the Taekwondo team at Athletes Without Limits, a non-profit organization whose mission is to create opportunities and offers support and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The non-profit’s ultimate goal is that these athletes can develop and maintain healthy lifestyles and reach their highest potential in sport and in life.
