The Time is Now. Join Us! We recently announced Novelis 3x30, our new, company-wide vision to advance aluminum as the material of choice with circular solutions and continue to fulfill our company purpose of Shaping a Sustainable World Together like never before. We aim to achieve three ambitious objectives by the end of 2030: 1. Push the Boundaries on Recycled content: Accelerate circularity and achieve 75% average recycled content in our products. Circularity is crucial, not only for lowering our carbon footprint and that of our customers, but also for minimizing waste and preserving critical resources. 2. Win on Carbon: Be the lowest emissions flat rolled products (FRP) aluminum provider with less than 3 tonnes of Co2e per tonne of FRP shipped. Meeting our first objective to use 75% average recycled content across our products will also help us reach our carbon goal. Novelis also will seek out low-carbon primary aluminum and decarbonize our own processes. 3. Fuel the Future: Continue to lead the industry toward circularity through first-mover investments. Over the past decade, we have spent billions of dollars to expand our rolling, recycling and finishing capabilities, and we plan to continue to invest in new and better technologies.
Novelis is thrilled to announce the successful completion of our Green Bond financial commitments! We've used $588 million to fund projects that reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency. Highlights include a $2.4 million solar park in Italy, a recycling furnace in Germany that saves 415,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, and a new recycling plant in Alabama. These investments are propelling us towards a carbon-neutral future. Click the link below to read our 2024 Green Bond Annual Report for more details.
Novelis welcomed 124 interns across our North American sites, where they took on various roles. As this intern class wrapped up their summer experience, many reflected on the supportive culture at Novelis. Beyond shadowing mentors and supporting daily tasks, interns were entrusted with projects that will leave a lasting impact on Novelis operations. "Nobody treats you like you're just an intern," said an Engineering Intern from Novelis Oswego. "In some places, you're given light work because you'll only be there for a few months. At Novelis, though, you’re assigned meaningful projects that affect real operations in the plant." One example is our EHS Intern, who played a crucial role in developing an Emergency Response Team at the Guthrie plant. With ten years of paramedic experience, they helped establish the team's emergency medical services division. "My favorite part about working at Novelis is that everyone is so friendly and kind. Everyone is willing to answer any question I have, no matter how silly it seems." During their summer, interns engaged in projects that offered professional development and insight into their future careers. An Automation Engineer Intern at Oswego earned certifications in C#, Machine Learning, and Java through EdFlix, an internal development and learning hub. Novelis' internship program has proven successful and effective in developing future leaders while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.

This week, our 150 employees in Guthrie, Kentucky celebrated the successful opening of our newest facility. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Manufacturing Institute Executive Director Carolyn Lee, several community partners, and Novelis leaders joined in the festivities. The Guthrie plant is an automotive aluminum finishing facility equipped with a heat treat line, pre-treat line, and annealing furnace. Key customers BMW, Tesla, Stellantis, and Ford use Novelis aluminum finished in Guthrie for parts such as body-in-white, hoods, doors, lift gates, and fenders. Novelis invested $300 million to build the greenfield facility, breaking ground in 2018 and shipping the first coil last year. Guthrie boasts the benefits of state-of-the-art world class manufacturing, with advanced automation technology and near-zero use of mobile equipment. “It took a dedicated and expert team to get us to today,” said Tom Lilienthal, Guthrie Plant Manager. “We are grateful for the ways Novelis colleagues supported this effort and look forward to hitting the ground rolling.”
