The Global Automotive Management Council (GAMC) this year combined the International Automotive Body Congress (IABC) and the Automotive Closures Conference (ACC) into one virtual experience. Novelis customers including Ford, GM, FCA, Hyundai and Honda participated in the event, in addition to several material and parts suppliers. Novelis experts demonstrated the strength of aluminum solutions and Novelis' competitive advantage throughout the two-day event, highlighting several successful projects led by the Customer Solution Center (CSC).

Novelis' newest automotive aluminum facility in the U.S. has hit the ground rolling. Our 84-employee team in Guthrie, Kentucky recently shipped its first aluminum coil to a customer for trialing. The plant features heat treatment and pre-treatment lines, which prepare aluminum for use in vehicle parts such as body-in-white, hoods, doors, lift gates and fenders. We look forward to increasing production in Guthrie in the months ahead as automakers continue turning to aluminum for lightweighting solutions.

Novelis Inc. announced it has partnered with Nespresso, the pioneer of premium portioned coffee, to launch the first coffee capsule made of 80% recycled aluminum. The highly recycled, sustainable alloy is featured in Nespresso's new coffee capsules. Comprised of a thinner aluminum foil, the new capsules contain 9.2% less aluminum material and are 8% lighter. The foil protects freshness and aromas of high-quality coffee and provides a strong barrier against oxygen, light and humidity. More importantly, the foil is infinitely recyclable and requires less energy to produce than virgin aluminum.
