Congratulations to everyone who participated in our recent company wide step challenge! Nearly 600 people competed on more than 100 teams. Over the course of the challenge, participants averaged over 10,000 steps a day which amounted to walking over 61,000 miles!
We believe that delivering on Pharmavite's purpose to bring the gift of health to life begins with promoting the overall health and well-being of our employees. Our recent Silver-level recognition in the American Heart Association Workplace Health Achievement Index shows we’re heading in the right direction! http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMDXm
We’re thankful for the opportunity to have FNCE as a platform to engage in a meaningful dialogue with dietitians and nutritionists about the importance that nutrient-rich diets play in overall health. Pharmavite sponsored the CE “Nutrient Gaps in Pregnancy: The Role of DHA and Choline in Mother and Child” presented by Dr. Susan Carlson, PhD, and our new Elderberry Gummies were enthusiastically received, if the continuous line outside our booth was any indication.
As part of our commitment to bring the gift of health to life by helping people achieve a healthier way of living, Pharmavite's science team examined the correlation between sleep and nutrient inadequacy. Recently published in Nutrients, the findings suggest that inadequate intake of nutrients, such as calcium and magnesium, is linked to getting less than seven hours of sleep.
On World Mental Health Day, Pharmavite joins forces with Otsuka Pharmaceutical Companies (U.S.) to promote the important role self-care plays in nurturing mental health by participating in its Take 5 for Mental Health campaign. Through walks, meditation, and other activities, employees across our company took five for their mental wellbeing and shared it via post-its in the palms of their hands. #Take5forU
Being excellent stewards of Pharmavite’s purpose by bringing the gift of health to life to communities in Alabama, the Opelika team recently assembled and distributed about 400 personal care kits for veterans through an annual American Red Cross program called “Totes for Hope”. These kits were distributed to patients at the Tuskegee VA Hospital and at VA-sponsored Stand Down events which support local homeless veterans by providing basic goods and services that meet their most immediate needs.
Pharmavite's commitment to making products that are nutritionally beneficial is rooted in our dedication to science and quality. Our Analytical Services Director, Mohamed Koroma, and Chemist, Lizbeth Martinez, continue our leadership in this arena through presentations at the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) annual meeting in Denver, Colorado. At the Analytical Solutions Forum (ASF), Mohammed discussed exploring fit-for-purpose and accurate methods for botanical finished products, particularly ashwagandha and turmeric. Lizbeth presented a poster on using an efficient and accurate method for the determination of choline in various delivery forms.
On August 22 at their 30th Anniversary Celebration Dinner, the Japan American Society of Alabama (JASA) honored Pharmavite with their Achievement Award for our continued investment in Alabama. The opening of our Opelika manufacturing facility in 2013 brought a new industry to the state of Alabama. We employ more than 300 people in a state-of-the-art facility that set a new standard for manufacturing excellence in the vitamin and supplement industry.
Seasonal fruits and veggies were on hand at last week’s farmers market. Doing fun events like bringing the farmers market experience directly to our team is an important part of our employee wellness program. We continue to grow the number of resources available to make wellness a priority, including free vitamins, weekly deliveries of fresh fruit, activities, and more. Delivering on our company’s purpose of bringing the gift of health to life starts with us. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM4Go
Pharmavite's weight loss challenge has been a huge success! Our company-wide 8-week challenge was designed to help participants strive to be the healthiest version of themselves by improving overall body composition versus hitting a certain number on a scale. Over 360 employees completed the challenge which resulted in a total of 1,030+ pounds shed and an average of 1.4% body mass lost per participant.
