We enjoyed hosting a wonderful picnic for staff as part of our 2024 National HospitalWeek festivities. Our dedicated Food Services team prepared a delicious Mexican lunch, and our senior leadership showed their appreciation by serving our hardworking staff. The event featured music, a photobooth, and a vibrant Folklórico performance, creating a joyous atmosphere for all attendees.

We recently celebrated the 8th annual Quality Day at Phoenix Children’s. Each year, leadership and clinical teams across our health system come together to assess a wide range of quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient safety, satisfaction and outcomes — as well as operational efficiencies — to ensure we continue advancing hope, healing and the best health care for children and their families. The Down Syndrome Network Arizona presented Phoenix Children’s with its Spark of Optimum award in recognition of our contributions to enhancing community care and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Dr. Dannah Raz (right), interim division chief of developmental pediatrics at Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s, was honored to accept the award on our behalf at the network’s recent Willy Wonka-themed fundraising event. Dr. Raz is pictured with Jennifer, O’Connell, the network’s executive director.

Phoenix Children’s Colorectal Clinic hosted a “Spring Fling” peer support event in Apr. 2024, bringing together our clinic’s healthcare team members, volunteers and patient families. In addition to networking opportunities, this social get-together enabled our team to provide patient families with the latest clinical information and available services to help them manage their children’s congenital conditions. The swings Briana and Lauren are sitting on are one of the many therapeutic tools used to help patients gain or regain key physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills whether they’re managing a chronic condition or recovering from an injury or illness.

The healthcare team in Phoenix Children's Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease (EGID) Clinic reached a clinical milestone in April 2024 by performed its 100th transnasal endoscopy (TNE) procedure with a single-use scope. TNE enables clinicians to accurately examine a patient’s gastroenterology tract, namely the esophagus and stomach, in an outpatient setting without administering anesthesia. Using a disposable scope also enhances patient safety.
