Congratulations to Heidi Bliss, ASN, RN (left), and Julia Jimmie, BSN, RN (right), 2023 recipients of Phoenix Children’s gastroenterology (GI) nurse scholarship. This is the second consecutive year that Heidi and Julia have been awarded this scholarship from the Rayhorn GI Nursing Education Fund — established by a former colleague, Nancy Rayhorn (center). Nancy was a nurse clinician in the Phoenix Children’s Gastroenterology Department for more than 20 years. She started this fund 10 years ago in recognition of the significant role that collaboration, mentorship and continuing education play in delivering superior patient care.

She is well recognized and respected by our clinical team for the amazing care she provides. Her incredible amount of nursing and medical knowledge, combined with her innate skills, make her a “go-to” nurse for many of our clinicians. She is an integral, hardworking member of our nursing team.
