Dr. Wassim Ballan, division chief of infectious diseases, also spent therapeutic time with Roger, one of Phoenix Children's volunteer animal-assisted therapy (AAT) cats. We appreciate Roger's handler, Tracy, for generous volunteering her time to make this service possible for our patient families and staff.

Dr. Wassim Ballan, division chief of infectious diseases, spent some therapeutic time with Sal, one of Phoenix Children's volunteer animal-assisted therapy (AAT) cats. This service wouldn't be possible without our AAT pet handlers, like Tracy.

Phoenix Children’s held its 2022 Advanced Pectus Conference at the Royal Palms Resort in Phoenix. Our two-day conference provided a wide range of providers — from surgeons, fellows and professors, to physician assistants, RNs and NPs — with information on the latest innovations and best practices for effectively treating patients with pectus and chest wall conditions. We were honored to have Dr. Donald Nuss, inventor of the Nuss procedure for pectus excavatum, in attendance. A line-up of medical vendors, hands-on activities and networking activities rounded out the event.
