Join us in congratulating Emily Ellis, a clinical education specialist at Phoenix Children’s, who was elected as the Director of Development on the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association’s board of directors. Beginning May 2025, she will lead numerous APSNA initiatives, like expanding the organization’s business relationships and partnerships, driving annual conference goals, organizing various events and activities, and promoting the organization’s long-term growth through commerce, fundraising and grants.

Andrea Cabrera (left), clinical systems analyst, and Jacqueline Alvillar (right), certified medical assistant, recently earned the Arizona Partnership for Immunization’s Big Shots Award for their commitment to helping advance system integration between electronic health records and Arizona’s vaccine database. This recognition highlights our ongoing dedication to enhancing our systems to deliver the best patient care possible.
These are a few members of our highly skilled neurodiagnostic team at Phoenix Children’s. Led by Cyndi Gregg, our team performs a broad range of neurological diagnostics tests, including electroencephalogram and electromyography testing, nerve conduction studies, pediatric epilepsy monitoring, and intraoperative monitoring in surgery. As Arizona’s only pediatric-specific neurodiagnostic lab to receive ABRET accreditation, we also serve as clinical trainers for several academic programs in our community.
Phoenix Children’s and Hands & Voices enjoyed bringing families of children with hearing loss together for our first-ever, in-person Storybeatz event. Attendees enjoyed interactive storytelling, explored spoken and signed vocabulary, and participated in hands-on games, crafts and activities. In addition to networking with each other, families connected with Phoenix Children’s Cochlear Implant team members and Hands & Voices advocates to learn about available support and resources.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the 500+ generous volunteers who give their time, energy and compassion to help support patient families, visitors and our entire healthcare team at Phoenix Children’s. Their dedication makes a world of difference every single day. As part of our National Volunteer Week celebration, we hosted a special luncheon to honor volunteers who recently reached milestone service anniversaries. We were thrilled to have Robert Meyer, our President & CEO, participate in the festivities.

As families celebrate faith-based holidays in a hospital setting, our professionally trained chaplains support each family’s unique spiritual needs.
