Dr. Janiel Pimentel and Dr. Melissa Chambers were selected as the Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program Fellow of the Month (Dr. Chambers for June 2017 and Dr. Pimentel for July 2017) in recognition for our dedication and contributions to the education of the residents. Both expressed taking great pride in this recognition, and are honored to be working with wonderful residents. Both agreed it's also a great reflection of the excellent mentors and teachers they have been blessed with as fellows in Phoenix Children's Hospital Division of Diabetes and Endocrinology. Congrats to both of you!

"Employee Spotlight: A Message from Jennifer Matchey, MD, Chief Clinical Integration & Medical Officer - "I want to take time out to say how excited I am to be your Chief Clinical Integration & Medical Officer (CCIMO). As we have grown and continue to grow, it is more important than ever to remain integrated and break down silos throughout our organization. Integration is vital to providing the highest quality of care for our patients. A chief focus for the quality strategic plan for Phoenix Children’s Hospital is to become more proactive than reactive."

Congratulations to Jay Haugen in our CICU for being nominated for the Daisy Award (and award given to extraordinary nurses) for his outstanding work! "This is our second admission for our son’s and our second time having Jay. Jay sat down with us and explained what we would see after surgery, all the possible lines, how he might look and what will happen once he is out of surgery. He had such compassion in his voice. Then, when he was working with our son, the way he said “my friend” made us feel like he really cared for him. Even the times when Jay would come in in the middle of the night to check alarms, I knew I didn’t have to worry because he said our son was ok ... or that he would be, we just needed to adjust something. Jay was calm, so we were calm. Lastly, Jay kept everyone straight for us. With lots of new doctors and nurses, it was hard to keep track of who said what, who we needed to talk to about different concerns or what day something really happened (because the days blurred together). We knew he was on our team and would fight for our son."
