New Orleans TS Fellows and Educator party! At the start of the year, New Orleans TeachStart Fellows and Scoot Educators braved the rain for a fun time of food, drinks, and connection. We got to celebrate January Fellows who just completed Foundations Training!

Last week, we led our first Safety-Care Crisis Management Training for BIs, RBTs, and paraprofessionals, equipping them with de-escalation strategies and techniques. Our educators now feel more prepared to work with students experiencing challenging behaviors with dignity and safety. As one BI shared: “The staff and material were extremely helpful. I feel so much more confident going back to work as a BI! Extremely thankful for this valuable training.” A big thank you to our trainers, Cristian Ruiz and Yvonne Zimmerman for teaching, modeling techniques, and supporting educators!

Scoot Educator, Bertha J., shared a poem about how much she loves working at Kipp Austin Collegiate. KAC even shared the poem in their school newsletter! “I wrote the poem to use as an example for students to read for inspiration regarding how to write their poems. However, this poem is every bit of how I feel about working here at KIPP Austin Collegiate with my school family.” It makes me skip It rhymes with a way to walk So much life, so much energy So much crimson - rojo, negro - ebony, with a touch of blanco- white Many feet outside moving, moving, moving on a mission to what? Meet Dan Morgan: Inspiring minds as a Scoot educator 🎉 His passion for education and commitment to his students is making waves in the Fort Worth community. 🔦⭐️ Dan has been a dedicated Scoot educator for the past 2 years. As a retired marine with previous experiences in public administration and international work in Ukraine, he eventually found his way to teaching with Scoot. Dan is noted for his success in his long-term sub assignments and his dedication to building trust with his students. 👨🏫 We asked Dan to share his top advice for new substitute teachers: “Mastering classroom management is essential. Set clear expectations from the start, and don’t be afraid to be firm when necessary!” Thank you, Dan, for being such an inspiring part of the Scoot family! 🙌
