Heidi Broker, a Scoot educator in Modesto, was a finalist for the Team Community Challenge sponsored by Modesto Junior College and Salt Community Challenges. As a result, Heidi and her team won $2,500! 🏆 Heidi has worked in a long-term role at Aspire University Charter School since January 2024. To support the school community, Heidi and her team donated $1,000 of the winnings to the Aspire Public Schools network. 📚🏫 Heidi also made a sizable donation to "It Takes a Village", a nonprofit in Modesto focused on supporting students who are unhoused. Heidi was inspired by students she supports at her school and we want to celebrate Heidi for giving back to her community! 🌟👏

Poet and speaker Emilio Montilla is accustomed to staring into a sea of expectant faces. His speaking performances across the Northeastern U.S. have made him comfortable in front of large groups. His audience is a bit different today: it’s all kids. “Working with Scoot has allowed me to know wonderful kids who just need a little love and guidance.” Montilla finds that every day in the classroom fills him with as much energy as it takes.

Our Colorado team had a jam packed (but very fulfilling) time at the Colorado League of Charter Schools conference. They had connected with both new, interested school admin as well as current partners like Karen Secor from Vanguard Classical School. Thank you everyone for stopping by our table. And thank you to the CO team for bringing their passion and energy to this event!!

For Pride Month here at Scoot Education, we wanted to do something meaningful to ensure that we are supporting schools and educators who want to create safe spaces in their classrooms. This year we've chosen to fundraise with Hope in a Box. Hope in a Box provides LGBTQ-inclusive books, curriculum, training, and a supportive community to educators committed to ensuring that LGBTQ+ people, stories, and communities are represented and reflected in their classrooms. Most schools served by Hope in a Box are in small, rural communities where support for LGBTQ+ people can be the hardest to find.
